What are the key point for making a good discussion?

You may be wondering why I asked this question when there are guidelines, faqs and all other helping material already there. But the truth is that I like more to read discussions than to read couple of pages of guidelines. I am new here and my previous and the only discussion was deleted due to some reasons. So I thought it would be better to know from others what are the general reasons of a discussion being deleted. I love this place and don't want to be banned as I heard from some users that more discussions being deleted may lead to account being suspended or deleted. I hope, there may be some people out there to help me out!
