Have you ever met someone famous? Who was it? Did they live up to your expectations in person or were they completely different to what you were expected?
We have a few famous people come in and around our area - mainly actors as a lot of filming occurs around here though there are also many singers and other celebrities who live around here. Most I never see though I have met a few people;
The first was Dawn French. We watched her filming after school a number of years ago and she was lovely. She came over to me and my friend to say hello as she saw us watching and got our photo in the local paper with her. She was just how I expected - very cheery and pleasent.
The second occured a week later just down the hill from where I lived then. It was Dawns other half Lenny Henry! I couldnt believe it when for the second time in a week my name appeared in the paper though no picture this time. Unfortunately I didnt get to speak with Lenny though others who did said he was wonderful and so like his online characters.
The third was a few years ago in the local pub. I was amazed when we had just sat down for a quiet drink when Ross Kemp walked in. My friend started speaking with him and me, my friend and my husband ended up having a short conversation with him though he came across as very moody (maybe because he just wanted a drink!). I really like Ross Kemp on television though in person he was extremely different and very arrogant many people said.

Hi Elfbwillow, I have met a fair few in my time and mostly they are lovely people but just with a celebratey status, in fact I have a fair few family members that are famous. I remember as a child though Sir Cliff Richard doing our school assembly as he was friends with our RE teacher as he used to live locally, he was lovely too. I also dated on of the Jam for a while and lived withsomeone who was famous in the 60's. The most arrogant and ignorant one I ever met (although in his younger years when with the Boomtown Rats and believe he has changed and matured since) was Sir Bob Geldolf. Dawn French and Lenny Henry do appear to be lovely people it is a shame that their marriage is now over bless. Huggles. Ellie :D

I met Mr. T. He's very small in person.
When I was a little kid I met the guy that played the lone ranger. I guess he was the same, but he was old.

I loved the Lone Ranger as a kid. The old b/w series was shown on UK TV early mornings in the weekends.

Living near Washington D.C. I have met a few famous politicians one was Bob Dole on an airplane. I also met a former senator in a fast food restaurant, and Janet Reno was in line behind me in an airport. She was not particularly friendly.

Hi elfb willow: I've met personally Tom, Tim and Rich from Keane and it was. Wow, amazing. This is one of my favorite band ins the whole world. They were amazing with us, the fans, they sign my cds and we take a picture with them. I can tell you that they are fantastic, a grat band without a doubt. And well, they were taller than I though. Or maybe it's because I'm just 1.75 m. tall that I feel it that way. Thanks for sharing your own experiences. Have a nice day.
ALVARO.

Yes, I have met lots of famous people over the years. I collect autographs so we go to Doctor Who events, book signings, plus try to meet the actors outside the theatre when we have seen plays.
I met Lenny Henry after Othello last year and he was okay, nice enough, but not as funny or gregarious as I was expecting. (I'll see if I can add a pic.) This year, we have met Robert Glenister and Tim McInnerny, who were both brilliant, really chatty and friendly, very easy to talk to. We met Rosamund Pike who was okay, but a bit distant.
At Fan Fest in London in April, we met Madeline Smith (wonderful woman), Britt Ekland and Maud Adams (both okay, but distant), Valerie Leon and Caroline Munro (both brilliant, very sweet and chatty) also Richard Kiel (Jaws in the Bond films) who was rude and abrupt, I didn't like him at all.
Over the years, there haven't been many people I have met and disliked. Barbara Windsor was rude to me when I met her in the 1970s but I wrote to her last year and she was lovely, she sent 4 signed photos. I didn't like Mary Tamm the first time I met her but I met her again last year and she was lovely.
Colin Baker is one of the nicest actors I have met. Tom Baker is great fun, a bit scary, but brilliant. I have met a lot of the Doctor Who stars over the years, though not the more recent series.
