I'm not sure what kind of fashion this is now days, but i wonder if it is okay in other peoples opinion to have your son's ear pierced. I always thought that getting your ear pierced was sort of like a women's fashion. What are some of your opinions?

It is quite common in my country and in my city for the young of both genders to have ear pierced, the same circumstance for the young guys.It is absolutely acceptable for me because I just consider them as several tiny holes increased on their ears.It is totally under my line of tolerating limitation.I have seen many young guys who are ear pierced behave well and politely in public ,they are all good young men.So don't mind ,take it easy, whether guys are ear pierced can't as the standard to analyze whether a person good or not.

I don't have a son but a daughter, but for me every time I see a man or a boy whose ears are pierced, three things it would come into my mind, either he is a gay, a bad boy, or an addict. I don't like man who had earings. If I will have a son I will teach him that earings is only for a girl, and it is bad for a boy to have his ears being pierce.

Yes, it is based on experience, and in our normal traditions it is only a lady has a pierced ears. but because of this bad influence today lots of boys are having pierced ears.

I think it's OK. I wouldn't want it done to myself -- I think it's better to be proud and protective of your body than to seek to modify it -- but I think people should have the choice to pierce their ears if they want. I would say it's more common for women to have their ears pierced, but it's not that rare for men to have it done also. Actually there is a long tradition of men wearing earrings...it's one of the things most associated with the pirates of old, for instance.

I have 2 sons who are in their 20s. Since they are adults, I wouldn't dream of telling them what they should or shouldnt do with their bodies. Personally, I think it is very small-minded to label a person based on their appearance. I would not have any more of a problem with them getting their ear(s) pierced than they would if I chose to have mine done. I consider it far more disturbing to see a baby's ears pierced since it is not old enough to give its consent or have it done of its own free will.
