The welfar program is good in it's original intent, to be a TEMPORARY help to those in between jobs, etc... but far too many people have made a career out of it instead of seeking to better themselves. I personally feel the goverment programs designed as safegards should be much more heavily governed than they are... A lot of people start drawing SSI or SSD (sorry not sure of the proper term here) who have never paid anything into the system, or have paid very little, but will draw from it for a lifetime. I knw a number of people in this situation...who ask the government to support them because they say they are unable to take care of themselves by working, yet go on to produce a number of children...Ummm If you can't support yourself then what right do you have to bring babies into the world that you can't support either. The money has to come from somewhere to support all these programs..and you know where it comes from? From the tax dollars we pay into the system. Why is it my job to support the next person for the rest of their life because they were simply to do-less to do anything for themselves?? If me and mine have to work hard to keep a roof over our heads and food in our child's belly, shouldnt the other folks too?All the talk about Social Security going bankrupt eventually...well we have an entire group of the population who draw heavily out of a system they never helped finance...so is it fair or even logical or reasonable to ask people who have worked hard and paid their fair sure lifelong, to forfeit their Social Security benefits

i feel the same i know this young girl that had one child and she money from the father and go to work part time but at still get money from the system. and at the end or beginning of the year she get the taxes for that child too and what make it so bad is that she had another one. i have a job and i work for myself and when i need help i can not get it unless i'm really un-employed. i think that if i work and i put into ssi it is my money and i when i old should be the only one to draw from it.

I think welfair should only be avaible to people for a limited time. Alot of mother's who are on it don't even work or try to make an effort to work or do anything with their lives. So it is just a cycle that just keeps repeating itself.
