The last couple days have brought a lot of flies into our house. My husband does the same thing with the flies that he does when we've had ants - he smashes the flies against the wall or window and just leaves them where they land. Now, we have all these dead flies laying around our house. I keep wondering if he's going to sweep them up or just leave them there until they disintegrate??? Does your spouse or another member of your household do anything like this?

Well I live by myself but no way would I put up with that! Flies carry many diseases and they need to be removed, period. That's really yukky, lol! I would tell him to clean them up if he insists on smashing them against the wall or windows. Why should you do it, he's not helpless and should help around the house anyway, ya know? They do sell those fly traps of some sorts that you can hang up. I don't know if you'd like to try those but we used them camping in a cabin we had once, worked great. Take care.

Of course, that's the name of them, and I called them fly traps, duh. How much more simpler can it be, um, "flypaper", haha. Yeh, Yeh, Yeh, that will work great! And you won't have to yell at hubby. They should make flypaper look prettier, like little bird houses or cute little lizards with their mouths open, or something instead of just a hanging rectangle, HAHA! Heyyyyy, now there's an idea...let's get rich!

I agree, kash...they should make flypaper houses. Those long strips of paper don't just catch flies...they have caught my hair a time or two. :-P YUUUUCCCKKKK!!!

We did get a pack of them and hung 2 in the house. No flies caught yet, but I'm sure there will be some in there by morning. Thankfully, they're a bit out of the way for me so my hair wont get caught!

We live in the country and use to have the fly problem, we have a few. What I do when they get bad is clean my kitchen counters then wash them down with bleach water! I have clean counters and apparently the flies don't like the smell of the bleach, plus it has removed their 'food' supply. Anyway, this works well. They just seem to vacat after the 'washing'.

They may only have a few days life span but in those few days they will lay thousands of eggs so keep mulitplying. I understand your hesitant to use the pesticides my self I am allergic to the smell of them but the flies are a health risk themselfs. Somewhere there has to be a 'source' for them andyou will have to track that down to really get rid of them. Kind of like a bag of smelly garbage, you can spray it to freshen the air but until you remove it, it will keep coming back. It has been awhile since your problem how are they now?

We haven't seen a live fly or any maggots in days. It's very mysterious, but they're gone just like they came...

We've had a few flies in the past, but nothing like this before! We haven't been able to find the source, they're just here. I'm thinking they've been here a few days so they're about all gone. They only live a few days, right?

Ehhh, are you sure you're not referring to my fiance?! LOL He does the same thing ... flies, ants, creepy crawlies ... BUT when it comes to the spiders, he's the biggest drama queen I've ever been witness to, literally jumping on the toilet or bed or running circles around me to get away from a tiny little creature that has more of a reason to be scared of him than he should have of it. I'll smash ants, flies and other eeky bugs but, I'm fascinated with spiders and refuse to kill them ... when I do kill a bug, I sure don't leave it's remains sticking to walls or anywhere else but in the trash!

Here in the USA we have a powder granule that you can buy in the store and sprinkle around the outside of your house that 'kills' the ants and other stuff so they don't get in the house. Works great, I have little ant problems.

We've not had that kind of problems with ants before, although they have tried to take over our kitchen before.

clean all of the flies out of your house.it is dangerous !the flies could take some germs into your house. I think you can Spray some pesticides around your house . that will make the flies less.

I don't use pesticides, I'm an "all natural" kinda gal. I don't know why we seem to have so many flies, we've had a few before, but not like this!

I used to always do that but soon they were everywhere so I just decided to vacuum them up and dispose of them separately apart from my regular trash.

I don't have a spouse but thing is if you want you're husband to clean up the flies or do anything you have to tell him. He's not going to do it because he assumes you will. That's just how men are raised and some of them do try to learn different but then you have the ones that still think the woman is there to clean their messes just as mama and daddy have taught them growing up. Men are no different than us in their inability to read minds. If you want something you have to make it known.

I have yet to see him clean it up, but of course I'm not the worlds best housekeeper. Of course I'm mostly just cluttery, not filthy.

we have this electric fly-swatter that my father just loves to use on any insect. he goes off on a killing spree everyday then the swatter has all these electrocuted insects. he wouldn't brush them off and sometimes, he would mindlessly leave the swatter on the couch or on the bed. it's annoying.

I've seen those before too. They do work on the flies, but you still have to dispose of the bodies.

Sometimes it's just easier for me to do the cleaning rather than recleaning after my husband. He never seems to do something completely.
