My cell phone isn't working...!

the screen goes blank when i try to open my phonebook- and i can't receive calls. when someone calls me, instead of ringing, the phone lights up then goes blank. when i call someone, i can only hear the rings, but once they answer, the phone goes blank. i can call my voicemail, but thats it. the bill is paid, so its not that. has anyone experienced this before?
