Hello all! I had seen some people go to shop, supermarket with paper list and buy things what they want. On paper is written things what need to buy. I had attempted this method when I was young my parents sent me to local shop with list and I give it to seller and he gave all things what is written there. I thought maybe this method would help me to save some money what I can spend in other places. Usually I spend my money on things that I might do not buy. Do you use this method when you are goes to shop, supermarket? Do you ever had thinking about it? Does this method is popular on your side?

I actually list down the things that we need to get in the grocery. For me, I list it down because it's a priority so it means that it's a must. I am budgeting all our expenses and I have to list the things that are of high priority.

Hi Mavie, i affirm your response. it's a good practice to really have a list. this will help you prioritize needed items for the week. then if there's still extra budget you can have some more. Money management especially for grocery and marketing is very important and useful!

@ msfrancisco9369: Yes I truly agree to that. I am also like that. I buy the things that we need badly or maybe immediate needs then if there's extra, then we can buy something else. At least we've got what we need already for the week until the next payday.

Hi Saphrina: I think that the best way to make this list work is to think about all the things that you need while you're just making that list at home. THis list works for me, at least. Without this list I'd forgotten some of the thing that I want to buy. ALVARO

Yes I can agree to starsailover if you make list in home saphrina maybe you do not forget nothing, but it is depend on what time/day you create a list. Example, create list one day before you go to supermarket and all be well.. This is advice it would work..

We always make a list, it helps us remember all we need, but it doesn't help us from buying things we don't need. Guess that's just part of life, buying things ya don't necessrily need, but do want. Though I am sure there are a lot of people who can withstand and not impulse buy.

Some people only take the amount of cash needed for the products they intend to purchase, so they can't impulse buy, I think that's a great idea.

Yes it is a great idea, but sometimes a price of the needed item can increase and you can not buy all your stuff, because one item is increased. Have a nice day!

I have tried this way but I can never stick to the list and now I buy my can goods at the 99 cent store which is much cheaper than the grocery store I can get two cans of corn or peas for 2 for 99 or sometimes two for 79 cents and then I will go to the grocery store for other things like meat and tissue and things like that but I always end up forgetting something every time.

I make a list and stick to it. My husband knows that if he wants something it must go on the list or it does not get bought. He was not used to this. When his mom went shopping she just knew what to buy she never had a list. I remember the first time my husband and I went shopping. He wanted me to buy him a bag of chips well it was not on my grocery list and he forgot to write it down. Well, when I came home with the groceries he asked me where are my chips and I told him sitting on the shelf at the store. We go grocery shopping every Saturday and I make a list every Monday and it sits on the fridge. He knows that if he wants something he needs to take the list off of the fridge and write it down. This taught him a lesson and now he writes down what he wants.

That is pretty much what I tell my three-year-old too. She is in that age where she is trying to figure out rules. If we bring a list to the shop, she has no problems accepting that's the only things we buy. If we just shop randomly, she nags about wanting this and that from we enter, and until we go home. Luckily she doesn't know how to read yet, so sometimes I'll find a piece of paper and tell her its a shopping list, and that candy isn't on the list.

I have been to Canada, and found it breath taking. I would much rather live there than the UK. There is nowhere near the corruption level and the banking greed that there is here.

I sometimes think what people need to be to mange bank. I think he is very evil and do not care about other people. He absolute is conceited. And many people who works in banks is corruptive. In our country was a situation that bank was die and all government and millionaire deposit all money on this bank. Now this bank is one of the richest in the country and the fiercest.

What I find so disappointing about banks is that you have no choice to have your wages paid into them. They are using our money to make profits, but charge you huge fines if you go overdrawn- yet they have processed the payment despite the fact that you have no funds!

I always use a paper list. I go shopping once a week.if I don't write down what I need , I will forget what to buy. But I only list non food items and some foods that are on sale or I Know I want that week. But I don't list All the food I buy. at the end, after I got all the items on my list, then I decide In the store what I Want to eat that week. So half my items are listed and the other half isn't

The list is in my head. The only time I take a paper list is if I'm getting ingredients for something I'm making that I wouldn't normally buy. Once in a while I forget something, but usually not...

i also do not make a list of things to buy when i go shopping. maybe because i, or we, me and my wife usually go shopping on regular basis and so we only buy little things and do not need to make a list. sometimes we do make a list if we shop for a lot of things. i think it saves time in shopping aside from saving money.

Well yes certainly it is the right reason why you do not make the list, because you do not buy a lot of things.. We (my family) always shopping for several days and it is the reason why we sometimes forget something. Yes, shopping with list save up money and time, because time in nowadays is very important.

Hello my friend....... My mom also made us shop to local store with list when we are child. We have to buy all stated in that list if not we go to others store to find the rest. I remember its always fun to go shop because I can use the exchange money to buy candy or snack. Today I make list list because we have to buy so many thing in our monthly grocery. List made us more organised and faster in collecting thing. but we always buy something not in the list for specific reason like special price or its new in the market.

Yeah I know of a few people who do this, I have tried, but I find it easier to go and walk round to get the things I need. Plus the other thing is that when I write a list like for grocery shopping I tend to forget the order in which the isles are in the supermarket, so if I follow a list in the order that I write it, I end up walking up and down the isles and it takes me longer. If I could write a list based on where things are in the shop I would be laughing and would get my shopping done in no time, and probably spend a lot less too.

Yes, that is a problem, getting lost in the aisles. Still, I like to have a shopping list so that I don't forget what I need. It also helps me budget somewhat as there are some items I absolutely must get and others that, if I run out of money, I can forget till next time. Without a list, I might forget what I need to get. That has happened too.

You use the interesting approach need to try this. Yep sometimes I too forgot what things I need to buy and when I come back home I remember what I need to buy. I too do my shopping in random shops and this method is the answer. If I use this method I always remember what I need even if I walk random around supermarket. I think about list introduction in my life.

Hi, ET. I use a paper list to help me remember the things I want to be sure to get. That list is the main reason that I went to the store in the first place. If I see other things that I want or need, it is OK. I buy them if my budget permits it and if I have the time to shop. I am older now, so the list helps to keep me on the straight and narrow so I don't come home with everything but what I went out to get. Also, by making a list, I get to take inventory at home. That way I do not buy doubles of what I already have.

Yes I absolutely must have a list when I do my grocery shopping and the rule is that I am not to buy anything that is not on the list! There are two reasons why I do not shop without a list, the first one is that I would inevitably forget a lot of the things I need and the second one is to save money by not purchasing unnecessary items. So, yes a list is a must for me!

Going to the store with a shopping list is a great tool to use when you are trying to watch your budget. When we did a complete overhaul of our finances last year, this was one of the things that we did to help us save money. I will start off when I am shopping I will go to the store that has the cheapest prices and also the most limited selection. Then, I will go across the street to WalMart and fill in the rest of the shopping list. I don't make nearly as many impulse purchases as I used to make.

Hi ET28LV! I am actually not doing that listing things really... but that is also good, in that way surely you will not forget anything at all... What I always do since I am the one deciding what to buy really, I just go to all the sides and aisles of the grocery store, in that way i wont miss anything... I would be reminded when i see the items on display...
