Being your own boss

Hello, So you've entered the entrepreneur world there's only 2 ways to go... do it half way or plunge head first all the way which one will you pick? There will be a lot of obstacles along the way... money problems, motivational issues, lack of things to do, boredom.... a lot but this is the price you pay to succeed and you will have to overcome those obstacles by yourself most of the time after all you are your own boss so here are some things that might help you out in your endeavour as an entrepreneur 1. Have a number (or set a goal) in mind. 2. Act professional even if no one is around to supervise you ( I still dress up and sit at my desk for 4 to 6 hours a day, with break schedules and a daily time record for myself) 3. Document your progress (are you making money or just wasting your time?) 4. Assess earnings over expenses and see if it's still balanced (you should be earning at least 10 to 20% of your total earnings per month (that's minimum) 5. Motivate thyself (each and everyday remind yourself that this is what you want and you have to succeed no matter what) 6. Take time for yourself (After all... this is the reason why you became an entrepreneur right?) 7. Enjoy every experience you get out of this Hope this helps you guys out

and 8: If what you do as entrepreneur require your presence and supervising all the time, you do not have a business, you have a job.

I think the advice you have just given is absolutely helpful. I personally agree with what you have just written. Being one's own boss is one of the best things that can happen to someone. Since i became a telecommuter, i have found my life better, i live healthier and am definitely much happier. Your advice is impeccable.

when it is your first time to do anything i guess it is better to test the waters first. plunging head first all the way is not really a good idea. no matter what it is in life that you are going in. business or marriage.... in general. big or small. last christmas season me and my wife tried to get a small stall of tiange at the plaza near our house. it is true that when you have your own business boredom is your greatest enemy specially on times that there are no one there to buy and the only people at the plaza are the owners like us. we also have a list of what was bought and we do nightly inventory before we go home. it was hard work and we are willing to give it another go next christmas. we didnt just enjoyed but we learned a lot from that first experience. good luck with you on your business think positive and find something else to do so you wont get bored.

Very interesting read and some pretty useful tips. I think the key to success is to be organized in different ways. That way you can keep track of the progress you are making, which is good because sometimes we all feel like what we do does not lead to anything. Also, having a schedule of when you are supposed to work on your stuff is really important. Otherwise, it is really hard to get started every day!

I agree completely. I have written an article about much the same thing although foe me, sitting at my desk all day isn't the best thing for me. I do sit at my desk for about 4 hours a day but I also sit other places with a wireless laptop-such as my garden or living room, just to vary it and make my life feel more relaxed

Self motivation is very important .... It happens sometime when you feel so down ...nothing goes right ... All the decision you take started going against you ....and you want to go back to your previous job ...( actually everything happened to me...) ....That is the time you need to be strong ...Motivate yourself ...Try to visualize your success...You cant not loose this battle ....You have to be successful... there is no other way out .....:) ...BANG and work harder ..... After 10 years one more successful Entrepreneur ....

Wow. thanks for these wonderful tips. I really want to have a business, but I am short when it comes to capital. I have numerous business ideas in mind, but none of it even materialized. Oh well, maybe someday I can have my own business.

I plunge head first all the way. I take caution when I do business but you will never learn to do business unless you are really there. I fix problem when it comes. I do not over analyze because I'll be paralyzed with so many negative thoughts of how not my business is going to work.
