Tigers are one of the largest cat in the planet earth. They are the most recognisable and popular of the world's most charismatic creature that prowels earth. They live with us through ancient mythology and folklore and continued to be included in the modern films and literature.
They appear on many flags and coats of arms, as mascots for sporting teams and as national animal of several Asian countries, including India. But with as few as 3200 surviving in the wild, the tiger faces extinction by 2022.
More than natural cause, its due to human activtes these tigers are in the danger of extinction. Its high time we come out into action of saving these cats.

What a fascinating topic. I went and read your blog and learned things I didn't know. My husband and I did watch a special a few days back about the danger to Tigers in Tibet and China, the medicinal and clothing issues. I don't remember the name of the organization, however, they are vary active in attempting to prevent the extinction of the Tiger. Keep up with the discussions that provoke thought and you will do well here.
Prosperous mylotting

Thank you - Texlady.
I was browsing the net for more details regarding the Tiger saving projects in China and found that fewer than 50 wild tiger remain in China. The local ngo's are hopping that the "year of the Tiger" will not be the last for the endangered cats!
I couldnt find much about the local ngo's or any other organizers working on save tiger projects in China & Tibet. World Wild Fund and The convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna & Flora (CITES) are the biggest ngo's who are working on tiger project on a larger scale.

Thank you - TexladyPj,
Another intersting but sad fact, In Vietnam and the part of Laos and Cambodia, they conservationalist estimate the tiger numbers have reduced to 30 in each of the countries. And they say this is due to hunting and poaching.
To boost the save tiger project in these parts Conversation Canines has teamed up with Cambodian rangers and WWF. According to WWF by 2022 there wont be any wild tigers.
Nick Cox the WWF dry forest and tiger program co-ordinator for the countries along Mekong river, says the forest of Cambodia's eastern plains can provide intact habitat for reviving wild tiger.
