i have just responded to a discussion about simple pleasures in life and was considering what i do to try to unwind or to declutter my mind when i have problems fogging me or just too much going on!
i do like my wine in the evening admittedly, esp with the world cup to enjoy at the moment.. but otherwise i go along to my daughter's football matches to escape for 5 mins! i also like to go up to the allotment - always summat to do up there!- and i can get back in touch with mother nature. walking my old faithful dog on the common and just an afternoon baking or spent with the kids doing summat away from it all! maybe it's just a matter of a bit of time away to let things settle into place in your mind?
how do other people try to destress, or escape pressures for five minutes? x

Hi wendie!
We all face these in life, whatever they are that keep us down. Seems to me you have a pretty good idea of what works for you. And that's really great!
I normally prefer to be alone, even if that means five minutes. I'm glad there's a small park nearby where I can take a slow walk. It gives me time to reflect and reassess and to refresh. Where I used to live in the countryside, these five minutes would be well spent walking along country paths, taking a stop at the small creek or just watching the farmers tending their crops and livestock.
I wish your time is well spent too as it has for me.

Well, I enjoy watching TV too or a good film on DVD, which allows me a bit of escapism. I'm enjoying Guillermo Del Toro's films at the moment like Pan's Labyrinth and The Orphanage. I also enjoy reading and having a nap! I think we all need to make time to rest, relax and recharge our batteries!!

hi wendie....
now i walk down to the beach and wonder along it as ther is always something new., just sit and breathe... to get to the beach there are leafy trees and open space with a lot of nature to observe too
so i guess i just absorb nature and naturall surroundings become part of the whole cease being an individual with problems...
when cant go out side, clean, that gets my head focusing on physical activities so brain doesnt over think....
used to dig my garden... like the physical activity to keep the body under conrol..
if not able to go out doors do read and get lost in the book
paint
and play scramble on face book it is so mind numbingly repetative that can get lost in it, forcing the nagging problems away... otherwise any activity not good at sitting still unless by the side of water or in it., a hot bath with or without bubbles... dont care as long as hot.....
just like being near water..... that soothes me lots...
i guess itall depends what you trying to escape
for me its my own thoughts so good friends always a tonic too
xxx
