Do you agree with what Kareem Abdul Jabbar comment when interviewed at halftime of game 4 that whatever team wins game 5 wins the NBA championship?

I think it should be game 6. Its kinda true in someway, well the standings is 3-2 in favor of Celtics. Now, game 6 and 7 is on lakers..therefore if celtics win, they will become the champion, if lakers wins, their gonna tie the series, then go to game 7, still in favor of Lakers because of the Homecourt advantage.

I agree, Kareem should have waited for the results of game 6 and then that's where he will determine the champion. it's either he didn't know it was just game 5 or he wanted the celtics to win.

Yes it would be Lakers homecourt advantage, but even commentators here in the Philippines has that saying that whatever team wins game 5 wins the championship. Maybe it's just that no team yet has come to win behind by 2 games of the finals and yes there's always like team wins when they go to their homecourt, but look at this Championship series turnaround, first 2 games at Lakers homecourt right? But then they lose to Boston on second game, then when the game shifted to Boston, same thing happen to Boston, they lose on their homecourt but then wins again the next game. Perhaps the last minute rule had change some game factor of the NBA.

Hello pogian, one things for sure, i think Kareem, was either ignorant because there is a scenario that if Lakers Win, it will be a Huge Tie and then there goes Game 7. or simply he is just bias with the celtics, of course, if celtics wins again, the strong odds will be on the lakers

Yeah, perhaps it will depend on which team is more determined. And also which team has a lot of healthy players.

That's a bit discouraging for a Laker fan to hear a Laker such as Kareem to comment about that after the Laker's Game 5 loss to the Celtics. But the Celtics hasn't won the championship yet so.... I disagree that whoever wins game 5 wins the championship. Like most of you said, Game 6 or 7 will.. Its either the Lakers who'll win back-to-back on Friday or the Celtics who'll win it all and break all Laker fan's out there by tomorrow. So best of luck to all especially the Lakers since I'm routing for them.
