Do you go outside in really hot weather?

I really don't like hot humid weather where I can barely breathe. I hear kids playing outside, screaming and such...but unless its early early in the morning I don't want to go out there. Since I wake up lately with a whopper of a headache - and no I don't drink or do drugs and try my best to eat balanced - although sometimes I do indulge in fast food - but I can get migraines with or without fast food!
To compensate, we have an indoor slide/sports center (basketball hoop etc) from Little Tykes and two play tents - one is a rocket ship and one a house/cafe, play kitchen, long hall for a bicycle and I just ordered a used plasma car from ebay.
We have other toys as well - learning toys, craft toys - like finger painting and playdough toys. Even dress up pretend toys. Some parents might say though - grin an bear it! But I just don't want to!
The best summer here - was winter. We were at the beach wearing short sleeves - and some days shorts. It was the warmest winter - here in Texas - then in any other state! We could be out and about for hours and hours every day, playing in the waves, making sand castles etc. Spring was okay too. But now summer is here, full blast and with it hot days and threats of thunderstorms that likely add to my headaches. I've been diagnosed with migraines but nervous about taking the beta blocker and pain reliever the doctor suggests. Don't like the idea of long term drugs in my system. We're kind of teetoalers in every way in this family I guess. Which is strange considering all the toxic chemicals in the foods we eat.
So, do you go out anyway - to play - no matter what the weather?

As much as possible, I don't really go out during really hot weather. But it is very difficult to do here in the Philippines because it is really hot all year round. We only get to experience coolness during rainy seasons and during the -ber months. It can get pretty hot here, so we just have to compensate by drinking lots of water and bringing with us an umbrella at all times.

Never heard of -Ber months. So living there your entire life doesn't accimate you to the heat? I've known people who grow up in hot climates and get cold if the weather drops just a little. I think if I lived there I'd go out and dance in the rain if it got cooler.

Ah of course. How cold does it get there - does it start getting warmer in January? What's the story behind your name, Labea17?

I had a heat rash on Tuesday. I did NOT want to get out of the car, but my grandma wanted me to get our and walk around the cemetery with her (long story). I didn't want to be disrespectful, so I got out. She said we'd just walk a few yards, but nope, we went further than that. Which wouldn't have been bad had I not been wearing jeans that didn't breathe, and the humidity hadn't been boring down on me. I thought I was going to scratch my arms and back off later. I hate this stifling weather.

Oh, and I don't want to sound like I'm telling you what to do. I have migraines too. Right now I only take a prescription medication if the migraine is here and stabbing my brain, I take nothing to prevent them. My insurance won't pay for anything else, but even if they would, I don't know if I would go back on preventative medicine. But what I'm getting at is people with migraines have a much higher risk of stroke. So while it sure as heck isn't fun to put one more thing in our bodies, it could help in the long run if it lessens your likelihood of a stroke.

Yeah, I go out all the time. It was real hot yesterday and I went for a 4.7 mile run. I am trying to condition myself. I did poorly in a race last week because I got too hot. So now I am trying to get used to it so I can run no matter what the weather is. I did pretty good last night I also took it easy to help get in condition for running in theheat.

Wow I think that's great. I used to take a 45 minute walk home from my massage therapy school in the state of New Mexico which was a dry heat. I took it fast in the morning, making it about 25 minutes but the afternoons were too hot and I got home with a headache, feeling dizzy and being deeply flushed all over.
I guess I don't adjust too well to 85-105 degree weather - I'm glad you are so good at adjusting. Not only that I think that you went for 4.7 mile run in high heat is phenomenal. Make sure you wear sun protection, we learned in school when we went through our pathology unit, that skin cancer is not only the most widespread - the highest number of people gettting it, but the highest deaths come from this as well. Even a few minutes of day - even cloudy weather needs protection. That's one myth - that overcast weather won't have the threat of UV waves.

No I don't go out to play no matter what the weather. If it's cold, raining or cold and raining, I stay inside. As for the heat? Grew up in Miami, Florida. Hot days were "normal".
