Does anyone know why it hurts so much when you hit your funny bone? I have done it a few times and each time it leaves me stunned each time.

It is because you are hitting a major nerve. It creates a big electrical impulse up your arm when you hit it hard, sometimes, it will leave your arm temporarily stunned. There are a lot of these nerve bundles around your body which will cause the same effect. Ninjas use this to their advantage when they engage in combat.
