You IMO dont need a top of the line camera especially if you can't afford it...I think the key things really are a passion for photography, a willingness to experiment and think outside the box and practice practice practice! Having a good eye helps...Reading up on various techniques, looking at a wide variety of photographers portfolios etc etc...

I will have to agree here. I have a good camera, a Nikon D90, but I don't think I'm already a good photographer. I'm still starting out and trying to find my voice. I have a blog about photography that is screaming for content because I haven't given the craft the time that it deserves in order for me to improve (thenewbiephotographer.com) Just keep taking pictures and find out what types of photos you enjoy taking. Get to know your camera, no matter what type of camera it is. Know how to take good quality photos with it. I know people who produce such breath taking photos with even just cellphone cameras.

To be a good photographer you need to have a bent towards art.and should be in a position to also appreciate good artistic pictures or photographs. This is the basic thing needed. And,you also need to learn photography with a minimum featured camera in the initial stage. Working with that you will gain experience and depending upon your budget you may go in for a sophisticated one. you yourself will know in which condition you are. You should be creative and this will pave the path to a good photographer.

To be a good Photographer , you need to be a Keen observer and also have Passion and Flair for Photography . Photography demands a lot of patience and you should also have a still hand . Accessories only supplement your skill. If you are interested then possibly having a good Camera with great features . By features i don't mean pixelation . Beyond 6 MP , you won't notice much difference in a photo unless you have a good look at it . But it's good to have a decent Pixel range though. For lens ,look for cameras that offer Natural zoom and not digital one. First start with a regular digital camera and then you could gradually transform to a professional one. Go out to streets . Take a snap of whatever interests you . Analyse it and think on how you could improve. Every time of the day offers some uniqueness to capture . Travel a lot and snap whatever you like . Discuss it with like minded and professional people and improve your skills . That's the key to develop your photography skills.
