trouble with hearing about other people's problems or misfortunes is that you tend to over judge or even misconstrue the situation because technically, all (s)he is hearing about is one-sided. :|
it's just sad how, some dimwitt would actually reason his|her actions as defensive. when you ( or I for that matter ) haven't even started offense. in fact, it's game over. so why pick fights?

The problem about listening to someone's problems is you only hear one side of it and therefore concluding an advice one-sided too. It's better to hear both sides then judge it rationally.

Well i don't really mind if people hand out advice. If i don't need it i just don't listen but just appear to be listening.

That is what we call unfair judgement. However, we cannot undo that. The best thing to overcome that one sided conclusion is to continue what we have shown before and be ourselves at all time.
