ubuntu has no internet connection

please help me i said that i will try ubuntu so i installed it alongside windows xp and i turned it on but i have lan internet connection on computer otherwise i couldnt write this meassage :D but when im in ubuntu i have no internet connection please help me

if you are using a dsl modem ...and u have a ethernet cable...just connect the cable to the etho port...then open the terminal and type sudo pppoeconf and hit enter...then you will b e asked for password after you give that continue choosing yes and you are done

i dont know what is a dsl modem but i think i have this one i have a smartcom sv2m104 modem

Which internet connection ur having?? Static IP DHCP DSL connection Each of this having different configuration in Ubuntu. If u tell dis i can help u.

Try to check if ubuntu have drivers of your LAN card. Some Linux operating systems are lack of available drivers specially on LAN cards.
