Hindenburg disaster, May6, 1937 : The blazing inferno that was the Greman airship Hindenburg is reduced to ruins as a survivor, lower right hand corner, runs to safety after it exploded on mooring at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey. Of the 97 people on board , 35 died in addition to one fatality on the ground. Air India jetliner plummmets into Atlantic Ocean (24 june,1985): Air India jetliner plummeted into the Atlantic off Ireland in Cork,Ireland. The jetliner crashed with 329 people aboard making it history's third worst air disaster. Air India Boeing 747 (23 june, 1985) : The Air India Boeing 747 crashed in to the Irish coast which killed all 329 people on board. Saudi Jumbo Jet collides with Kazak cargo plane (Nov 12,1996) : Saudi jumbo jet collided with a Kazak airliner cargo plane killing some 351 people Tuesday Nov.12,1996 near the town of Charkhi Dadrik about 60 miles(100km) west of New Delhi.It collided with the plane when the Kazak plane coming in for landing.. Pan Am Flight 103 (21 Dec,1988) : Known as the Lockerbie disaster, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over the town of Lockerbie killing all 243 passengers, crew members and eleven people on ground. The man who was responsible for the tragedy ,Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed Al Megrahi was sentenced to life imprisonment in compassionate grounds as he was suffering from cancer. Boeing 747's collision (27 March,1977) : A burnt tail section of a KLM jumbo jet lies on the runway of Tenerife airport, Canary Islands, Spain, a day after the collision during foggy weather conditions between the KLM aircraft and a Pan American Airlines 747 jet BOAC 707 jet (12 Aug, 1985) : A Japan Air Lines 747 crashes near Mr.Fuji after takeoff from Tokyo on a domestic flight killing 124 people. Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash (13 April,2010) : Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife and some of the country,s most prominent military and civilian leaders died along with dozens of others when the presidential plane crashed as it came in for a landing in thick fog near Smolensk in Western Russia. Air France Flight 447 (1 june 2009) : The commercial flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris crashed into the Atlantic Ocean killing all 216 passengers and 12 crew members. US Airways Flight 1549(15 Jan,2009) : This one talks about the story of the miraculous escape of 155 passengers and crew members after US Airways Flight 1549 successfully landed on Hudson river six minutes after its takeoff following an engine failure after being truck by a flock of birds. It was pilot Chesley Sullenberger's Presence of mind that averted a major mishp.
