The book that I am discussing is 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' by John Boyne.
You may have seen the film - but I always much prefer the actual book to the film adaptation.
This id actually classed as a childrens book, but it certainly didn't feel that way to me, I did not feel that the reading standards were low in it and I don't think that it is so suitable for younger children because there couple of particularly harrowing and sad moments in it.
It is though an ideal book for anyone studying the events of the Second World War, and in particular, the Holocaust.
The book is about the Holocaust but what is unusual about it is that it is told with the views of a naive child, using simple words and phrases.
I really did love this little book book - it has all sorts of emotions in it from being slightly amusing, undoubtedly VERY shocking but most of all so very VERY incredibly sad
I would certainly recommend it for any one from 12 - 102 !!

I read this book too and thought it was very good, though as you say, it is a moving book and maybe not suitable for everyone to read, especially little kids. I haven't seen the film yet though. I cried reading the book!
