There are many different festival in different culture and I am sure sharing some of your festival from your own culture maybe fun for all our mylot friends. In my Chinese culture, there is a festival called Dragon Boat festival. It is a public holiday in Hong Kong but I am not sure whether it is a holiday in mainland China or not.It is on the May 5th of the Chinese Calander and usually take place around Every June in the western calander. It was a memorial day for a good government official in one of the ancient Chinese Dynasty.this man tried to persuade the king to do something good and wanted to show his loyalty to the king. But the king refused to listen to him and he wanted to show his loyalty by commit suicide and jumped into a river from a boat with a heavy stone tied up with his body. Then he died.the people around that area wanted to memorize this good official for his loyalty and goodness,by some interesting things.they made up some stumbling with sticky rice and wrap it up with some leafs. They threw the stumbling to the rivera and hope that all the creatures or fishes under the water won't eat up the official's body but just eat the stumbling. They also row the boat in the river and make loud voice with gongs and drums. Why? It was beacsue they hope that all these noise will scared the fishes away so the fishes won't eat the official's body up again.Later on,it became a festival called the dragon boat festival in Chinese culture.People will have race by rowing a long boat with a dragon's head in the front.By the rythm of gongs and drums, people on the boat will keep on rowing against another teams.Of course every team wants to be th winner.Of course we will make different kinds of stick rice stumbling and enjoy this great food in our own home. What about your culture and special festival?Share with us.

Ours here in Cebu, we have our own festival, and it's called Sinulog. The festival is celebrated every 3rd week of January. The festival honors Sto. Nino, the patron of Cebu. The festival is so fun. Street dancing is the main attraction during the festivity.
