Teen Sailor - Abby Sunderland

When I logged into my homepage this morning, there was an article featured about Abby Sunderland's parents facing criticism about the situation. When I first heard about this, my first thought was..."What is a teenager doing trying to sail around the world alone, and why did the parents let her do it?" After reading the article I learned that they were involved in some sort of reality show, but my question is...What were they(the parents)thinking? I am curious to know everyone's thoughts on this subject, because I think it is a very good example of how family values and social responsibility have deteriorated in our society today.

Heather, I just think those parents are nuts for allowing their 17 year old daughter to sail. They are just after the money that they would get from the reality show.

Yeah...I get that feeling, too, and they look like really creepy people on the yahoo home page where I saw the article. I have 4 kids, and would never dream of letting any of them do something like that when they become teenagers.
