The numbers in parenthesis beside your name, tells you how many times you have responded to somebody's post. It doesn't count how many times you have added a commented on a person's topic or if you message somebody back and forth.

Yeah... what they said...

"I certainly think Britney Spears is the devil. The way she projects herself and the fact that she is so obviously vacuous. I think it's such a shame that she became so influential to very small children." -- MORRISSEY

By now you will have realised that it is your rating. The number is determined by the number of discussions you start, the number of responses you make to other discussions, but does not include the comments that you make to responses to your own discussions. Also you can respond or comment as often as you like to the same discussion, but you will only get 1 rating point. Sometimes it can take a leap, because you have a positive rating or alternatively drop because of a negative rating.
As far as I know it does not change for a "best response" and I am not aware that a positive rating on a photo has any impact on your rating either, although both of them will increase your earnings.

It not really about just posting the responses, it shows your overall activity i.e. creating new posts as well.
It shows your ranking.

It's shown the number you're response to discussion. The more you response to discussions, the number will keep rising. and also, if you're qualified, there will be a star with level 1 up to 10.. it's shown your experiences.
Perhaps that helps.
Happy posting!!! :)
