wow, years passed by so fast and i am now my fourth year as a civil engineering student... i was really afraid since, our university was always among the top performers if we talk about civil engineering licensure exams, not to mention it maintained two consecutive 100% passing rate during the early 2000 and decreases to 97, 95 in the next years.. that maybe the reason why the department of civil engineering under the college of engineering in our university was so lax and confident they could make it again last years board exam.. to the university's surprise, the rating sinked down to 70% passing rate... that made our STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING professor to say they will be more strict this year and will really strictly impose the standard of the college wherein the passing grade would be 80%.. yes our 3.0 is 80% and not the very common 75%... and i am so afraid about it..huhhuhu HELP LORD... i might fail..tsk,,, tsk,,, tsk,,,

I cross my fingers that you'll make it. It's stupid that they raise the level if the passing is lower than before. That only widens the gap. Never understood teacher and why they make the second test harder. Do they fear the greads would be too high...wait wouldn't that be good for them? Where's the logic. Good luck

Hi slovenic: I cross my fingers too. Hopefully our friend would do it fine. I don't think it's weird, this is one of the strategies teachers use when they think that the Academic level of their students is not as high as the would like it would be. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

Hi markleob: I understand that the reasons why you are afraid are reasonable. It's logycal that you have to study harder because your university want to recover their Academic level. I think that there's a big reason why they demand you to work harder. I think that it's no good to be afraid. You know the reasons why this is happening, so don't fear, simply act and things will be ok. Thanks for sharing with us this situation. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I didn't literally mean in the books, jst concentrate on your studies. Maybe you should so you won't have to necessarily grow the long hair most eng'g students have.

You don't have to be a Bookish student. you just have to "focus" on what to study and have a goal to achieve. but first you should know what inspires you and convert that as a strong will to pass the course. what makes you happy should be something that can inspire you to study hard, and dominate your FEAR.

Well my sugsession for you is to take rest and go to watch a movie and spend some times with your friends then see what happen. I think you will get proper refreshment and will be relaxed. Then you will concentrate more on your studies and that will sufficient for you to pass as at that time your gaining power will be high than other times.

If you REALLY want to pass, then I suggest you organize your schedule! Discipline yourself and have proper time for everything. Don't spend too much time with your barkadas, stop playing games and stop drinking! :D Focus on your studies and aim high! Don't just aim for a D on all your subjects! That is pretty lame! You should aim for an A+ to make your efforts worth it. I've seen lots of people approach me and they're so proud of their "passang-awa" grades when they should not! They could do so much more than that. Discipline my friend, is the key to success!

Hello Mark, Phew! Thank God i didn't took that course. but you know, the hard start is always the challenging one. i believe in your confidence and it doesn't have to take intellect just to pass a 80% mark. it has to do with the Will and Confidence to make it work. Richard Gordon once said "you must make you're FEAR your friend" don't take the fear of loosing or failing too seriously. just do your effort, study, learn what you can, asked help from others if you have too but don't be AFRAID, at least learn to take over your fear, that will help. It's alright to be afraid, it's how you control or passion on winning or passing that counts.don't let fear distract you. PS: a lot of high paying jobs are due to your course, so do your best and pray to God.

Just be optimistic and do your stuff to make it. Students should behave like students and focus on your goal, if you want to graduate with a good passing mark then you need to work hard or it as the saying goes "No pain, no gain". So goodluck and hope you will make it.

Between them I'm sure you would rather beat the books than bury the books. This is your long-awaited chance. So make it your best. And I'm sure you would too! Good Luck in your exams.

You can do it. Just think that its only 5% higher. If you are doing well with 75% then just exert more effort and I think you can easily pass any subject with a passing grade of 80. And I don't think your grade is always 3.0 right? Just think positive and treat it as a challenge. Show those teachers that you deserve to be in that University. Good luck.

You only need to work hard even though it feels like nothing is really sticking to your mind. Just be positive. Make a very well- organized time table for your study periods and just do whatever you're asked to do or as advised by your professors. It's not really about the trend that matters. It's about what you learn and what you can retain. It's all about hard work and lots of determination. Good luck.
