For those of you who are into reading, are you the only one in your family who likes reading, or are the rest of your family into reading too?
In my case, I have always been a book worm, but my parents also read a lot, and so do my siblings, so I think we were just raised to think that reading should be a big part of our lives. Curious to see if that is the case with other families as well....

I love to read mystery and do crossword puzzles and my husband loves to read about history.

That's great! You kind of have a hobby in common then! I also really enjoy mystery books by the way. In fact, I am reading one now (a Harlan Coben one, about Myron Bolitar, if you know what that is?)

Both my parents are big on reading, and it rubbed off on my sister and I... Except I'm worse. While my parents will finish a couple of books in a month... I'll finish the same number in a week. I've found myself being the supplier of good books to the rest of the family. I keep reading books and then handing them off to my Mom, then my Dad, and then my sister (who's the slowest reader of us all).

Wow, sounds like a great family (and you must be so popular in it, LOL!), I think that is a great habit, to pass books along in the family, I should maybe try doing something similar in mine. Great idea, thanks for sharing!

no,actually, most of us do like reading.it just takes time,i guess.
i do love reading sometimes when i am in a bookstore,i would stay there for couple of hours just to read when i am passing my time. it really made me feel happy doing that. well, depends on the books of course.
my sisters also loved reading. same as my mother.my father,i seldom see him read.but i do think he do read a lot too.

Both my parents read a lot, so it has always been normal for me to read too and to be surrounded by books. Now I am married and my husband is an avid reader too, though we usually read different types of books and authors.

In the family, I remember my dad and mom reading once in a while meaning, reading is not one of their hobbies. My sisters read lots of books romance, mysteries, those kinds and I would say they are as avid reader as I am. I know our youngest, the only brother used to read a lot too and he loves puzzle books.
My daughters love to read too even my husband loves to read but the problem with him, he gets to doze off before he could finish a paragraph hahaha! He loves to read to get him to sleep.

Haha, I think a lot of people do that actually, read to fall asleep. I do it sometimes too, but it only works for me if the book is really boring. If the book is good, I want to see what happens, so I end up staying up later just to get some more reading done, which is really not so good!

It's strange, my father reads but my mom doesn't, one of my brothers read and the other doesn't. But I think I'm the one who reads the most in our family, though mostly novels and a bit of self-help books.

My father reads a lot, and he has a huge book collection. He likes to read many different kinds of books and when I was a child I often saw him with a book in his hand. My mother doesn't read as much as my father. She is usually busy with other things during the day, and she only reads before she falls asleep or during the holidays. My brother doesn't like to read. He reads some magazines sometimes, but be he doesn't like to read books. My father and I are the biggest bookworms in our family.

as of the moment, im just the one who is still interested in reading. I havent seen my parents read a book ever. And my brother is just interested in reading comic books and joke books.
i really think reading is dying because of all the tv. well the internet has some reading into it but its mostly trash.

I love reading maybe because when I was a kid I saw my parents read books. My parents read a lot of books particularly christian books.I also love reading christian books like become a better you written by Joel Osteen. But right now I'm into novels, books from Oprah's book club. What I'm reading right now is Where the heart is by Billie Letts. Reading is a form of entertainment at the same time it is necessary to acquire knowledge. It also broadens our horizons.
