Cleaning is something I need to do at home, what about you?

I have found out tho I have a very small part time job as a maid, I just can't clean my home like I should, I lack the motivation, and therefore I suffer when the occasional friend visits me.
I want to be able to clean and be proud instead I suffer in shame and even tho I find my home a pigsty I do not have what it takes to put it in order
really I believe I might start cleaning today but then things happen, like a nap
So is housecleaning something you need to do? OR do you do it all the time?
And how?

I clean my entire house once a week. Then during the week I will tidy up in each room to keep up with it so its not crazy at the end of the week. So first thing after eating breakfast I will run around the house making sure everything is in order each day. I do have OCD when it comes to cleaning so that helps in keeping the house in order.

Oh for sure one needs motivation. I stay home and take care of my 2 year old, and i have to pick up everyday!I try to do laundry every day and clean the kitchen, but with my disability its hard either i am too tired or, my foot hurts. But i drink a lot of coffee for sure and manage. If i could afford it i hire someone! :)

Same here. When I was working as a Paralegal in a law office, I had no life. I had no time to clean up because I always come home late. If not, I would be so tired. Good thing, I am alone and living independent then so I can manage the clutter although not that dirty. I have to clean up the house once every two weeks.
Then I read some tips on how to clean the house faster. I was able to manage it and handle it at least.
For more than a year now, I have someone to live with me. He is so meticulous on cleanliness. Because of that I have to make sure that everything is clean and in place. Lucky me, he is helping me out. Besides, cleaning the house is a good and great bonding time to us.
At present though, my sink is out of order and the landlord decided to repair and change the tiles as well. So my apartment is a mess again with cement dusts. Whew! It ran for two days and finished. I will be cleaning up tomorrow, I hope.

What were the tips that were supposed to make you able to clean the house faster? Do you remember? It would be interesting for a lot of us to learn tips like that, so if you do, please share!

hi shellyb,
i came to know that western people are very active in all works,if you clean things immediately after the work is over,it is easy to you,if you keep pending all day then it is difficult to clean everything, cleaning work is my wife's,but some she will do and her servent maid do rest of the thing,if she will not come, she have to do everything, then she also feel like you about cleaning, have a nice day

Hello shellyb,
If i don't clean, then my mom will which is very frustrating, i am young and she had to clean up. so, that's i have to clean. but like you sometimes i lack motivation, i just let it go to dirt until it's too visible for the naked eye
but i got other house choirs to do besides that and those are watering plants and feeding the animals.

I also hate cleaning, luckily my new partner helps out more than my last so I don't have to do so much. Things still get dusty though, and he doesn't do jobs properly I laways still have to clean the sink and work surfaces in the kitchen when he's washed up etc. Also I don't think he's ever cleaned the bathroom or dusted I still have to do all that.

Hi Shelly,
I'm a pretty cluttery person so if I did not keep up with it, my place would look horrible in no time. I like my apartment looking nice and so I do clean and pick up every day. One thing I do have to do is the things that don't show like the closets and cupboards etc. Sometimes changing things up gives me an extra boost of incentive. Last week I bought some new curtains on clearance to go in my living room. I've heard if you are overwhelmed with it then it helps to tackle one room per day. I get up in the morning and have my coffee, shower and then get started. I put on some good music and stay clear of the computer until I've done enough so that I won't be embarrassed should someone come over. Then I take a little break and get back to it until it is all done. I think once you set your mind to it and make some progress that you will be so much happier and glad that you did.

Hi Shelly! I don't believe that your house is a pigsty! I hate
to clean too! I do the best that I can, but I know that I should
do better. I keep the kitchen and bathroom clean, but I have
trouble dusting! But, my boyfriend is an obsessive compulsive
clean freak and he gets on me all the time about cleaning! So,
he ends up vacumming and changing the litter box and scrubbing
the tub because he says he "does it the way he wants it done"!
Do you think I'm going to fight with him if he wants to clean?

yes, for me doing a house-hold chores is my daily routine. its about on how to manage your time to do it..i wake up early in morning and start fixing things in the kitchen, and then after cooking i have to wash first the dishes before leaving., and after my worked, before i go to bed, i have to clean first the house and arrange all the things in the kitchen needed for tomorrow morning.. that's its..

I do it a lot, because I am a clean freak. Do not get me wrong, it is not like I really like cleaning or anything, but I hate it when it is messy, so the lesser of the two evils is to clean for me. I clean something small almost every day, and then I do a bigger clean in one of the days in the weekend, to make sure everything is in good condition.

Anyway, commitment matters in everything we do in life, do you late to work everyday? if no is the answer, then schedule your time, possibly make a roster/daily timestable, when to wake-up, when to goes to work. when to return from work, when to clean your room, when to exercise yourself and so on.
Follow-up your roster and your room/house will be OK, clean and to welcome any visitors. Best of luck.

lol.. cleaning is something I alternately do with my mother at home. Do you live with someone else? Because if you find it hard to clean your very own house, you can clean with your companion in turns. You know, like she should clean the house MWF, and you could do it TTh. :)

Well I find that if I think about it long enough and often enough eventually it gets done. just start at the top and work your way down. Start on one side and work your way around. End with the vacuuming and washing of the floors. Easy. You'll be glad when it's done too. Eventually you will get the knack of it and be able to bang it all off in no time, finding yourself in what will soon become a regular routine.
I clean, i clean and I clean but my place can become a disaster rather wuickly also.
If you just start picking up, putting away and taking out the garbage, you wil be amazed how little it takes to get things back in order. If you do it often enough there will be less to do as well.
I enjoy having my place tidied up. I usually start with getting the laundry in, that way my bedroom is half sorted out. At least all the laundry is off the floor so I can get in there and actually see the floor, lol.
I try to always keep my bathroom clean.
I can not stand a cluttered and dirty bathroom.
That is something else. If you have a lot of clutter, things all around, with little counter top space, try finding a place for those things in a cupboard, put things away and work on having your counter tops clear, in the kitchen and the bathroom. Sure makes a difference. I do this because I don't have a lot of counter space. When I cook, I want a clean surface ready, without having to move stuff.
It works good for me and hope that you will just get into the swing and find a routine that works for you.
Try cranking on some of your favorite tunes and just go for it. You could have the basics tidied up within hours.
Easy. Have fun!

Cleaning is DEFINITELY something needed in my home. Like you, I lack the motivation and the task is too overwhelming. I was in the hospital for 2 years after being a victim of road-rage and the house never has gotten back in order, even though I came home almost 5 years ago now. The house had to be altered quite a bit to accomidate me for the first few years I was back home, which caused a lot of mess. Also, our house is in the remodling process and NONE of the projects are done. I truly with i had the motivation to clean...then I could have company...but I just can't find it.

I too am having a hard time finding the motivation and time to clean my house like I should. I have a 3 month old son and 4 dogs and we're remodeling our new house while living in our current one. It's just so hard to find the motivation whenever you are a million other places most of the time as well as taking care of your child. I too would love to have a neat, clean house so when people do want to come over I can say sure why not. Instead of saying no my house is not clean. I'm hoping that when we move I'll have the time and motivation to clean my new house like I want to. I'm thinking I'll have lots of motivation to keep it nice since it will already be that way when we move into it. It won't be as hard to keep up. Our current house has been lived in for 12 years by my boyfriend and he isn't one to clean much. lol

Cleaning and getting organized in your house is two different things to me. Cleaning to me is dusting and cleaning the floors. Cleaning is also cleaning underneath your bed and dusting behind everything and making sure there is no dust around.
Putting your clothes away after doing laundry is something i do everyday and doing the dishes is also something done everyday. Putting things away where they belong is something that should be done everyday so you don't have so much to do it all at once and you stay organized this way. I clean my room and the house every other weekend and that consists of dusting and cleaning the floors. I do laundry through out the week and most of it on the weekends because i do work full time and i get lazy when i come home from work.
