So I've noticed with Islam, how Muhammad was supposedly a merchant, and upon his recognition everyone and their mother was like "OMG MERCHANTS R AWESOME LETS ALL BE MERCHANTS". But with Jesus and how he was supposedly a carpenter no one really cared or put emphasis on that. Why is this so? I just want some opinions because it's been a question that I've been curious about for a while.

It is difficult to put an emphasis on something that is not sure. There is today only one line in the new testament saying that Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3). In the third century Origen wrote that there is nothing in the new testament saying that Jesus was a carpenter... We know that Joseph was a carpenter, but we don't know if Jesus learned this job.

those are the kind of jobs they had back then in the primitive days. i think my late grandfather was a merchant. he owned his own textile shop. i am not sure what my other late grandfather did, but i am sure it was something like merchant or sales, too. a modern day merchant is a business owner or commerce, nowadays.
carpenter is more of a handy man or craftsman. nowadays, it still exists, but is considered a blue collared position for people skilled and talented in created stuff wooden stuff.

Some people have chosen carpentry because of Jesus, but really the idea is that he had a modest profession - he could have just as easily had been a blacksmith or had any other trade. There were probably not many merchants in Muhammad's time so this was emphasised. One thing is certain though, the world does not need any more merchants anymore.
