Is Penny Auctions the hottest method to get a hookup on electronics?

Has anyone been successful using the penny auction websites like quibids, bidcactus, etc.? If I understand correctly, a person bids a penny at a time on useful electronics and gift cards until the bidding war is done. The physical act of bidding also bears a cost of 50 to 75 cents per bid.

I am not sure about a penny auction site.. but I am willing to share of a free auction site that anyone can try .. but I'd have to do that in private message.. Cause posting referral links in posts is a no no :) .
