How about having featured writer of the day here at myLot?

Hi Mturacom, The mylot digest is one of the great feature of mylot where top discussions are posted. i felt so great when i made it to the mylot digest. it truly inspipred me to continuously working on here.

Please don't get me wrong but I wish to comment on several things in your topic I saw the discussion that you mention and, as you say, it was talking about becoming a featured writer on a writing site. MyLot is not a writing site. Here, while we are told to use English and quality, it is a place for fun and I feel that many users would feel excluded if the emphasis was put on the writing in terms of content, grammar and whatever. If they wanted to be writers then there are sites available but not myLot. With regards to the Digest: those discussions are not the ones with necessarily the most responses. They are the discussions which receive the most activity in the previous 24 hours. Activity can be responses and/or comments. As the previous responses suggested, who would be responsable for choosing who was worthy of the award? What are the qualities required? The number of words in the topic? It's not always necessary for it be a long topic to be able to get the message across. A perfect use of English? That would exclude many Lotters. Personally I do not think this is necessary noer do I think it would add anything to encourage users. It could create rivalry and situations of jealousy which is not what myLot is about. I like the way things are where each user can choose the Best Response and admin is not involved

Cute idea, but it sounds a bit like work to me! It would be a good way to get to know a bit more about different myLot members, of course. That reminds me, we haven't seen Alice around here lately have we? Suddenly a thought comes to my ...how about a featured staff member discussion once a month or so?

I find your idea genius, why? because it will motivate us more to write sensible and quality post. I am sure there are a lot of good writers here, I know I am not one of them though, but who knows. To add up there should be incentives for having the title.

Well this is a pretty good idea... except then people would start writing like articles. I believe myLot should be more "chat" like :)

I will be motivating of-course. It would be more if in that particular day, we are paid more for what we write

That sounds like a very good idea.It would give us a bit more motivation to give good quality responses and posts. Maybe there could be some sort of reward as well, it would really give a lot more motivation ,and mylot would bloom.

Hi mtura! I think that it would be a nice idea. I don't really know how myLot admin would feel about it, but you could ask "Alice" what she thinks and have her ask the rest of the myLot Admin what they think! I think it would be difficult to do it from the discussions of the day. Maybe they could do it by having some kind of writing contest instead! We definitely have some really great writers here and some do write professionally so there could be quite alot of competition! Sounds like it could be a possibility! What do you think "GoaskAlice"?

This idea sounds great but I believe that marking as Best response is another way of saying same thing, may be not a featured write but the response by member on a certain discussion is the best writing. It can be a good idea when MyLot is choosing the featured writer and we still continue with the Best Response.

Mylot is a place to discuss anything. No one bothered with our quality of write as long as we can understand the main idea of the post. I mean, even if you are bad writer you will accepted here and get reward form mylot. The important point is your quality of post. There are many users of mylot don't have good skill in writing in English but they have good thought, good opinion. Furthermore, this is a place to socialize.

That would be a great Idea for us to be more motivated to make quality discussion, responses and commenting. because there are many mylotter who make discussion that is question like and some are too short like what flavor of ice cream you like or something like that I think I am not the one who noticing that kind of participation. But I am not against them because they can't earn money from those kind of participation and possible for delete. It just good that we have that idea of yours but I know the admin know everything for this site to be more interesting and people can enjoy with the community. just like the emoticons I never thought that this emoticons is not part of the community when it was started and it just recently add as new featured I think the admin are trying to do some great adding in the community step by step.

After reading what you said, I'm thinking how to choose the featured writer here? If according to the number of responses, then the digest is working well, or myLot should employ a professional editor team, another way is according to users' vote...It's very difficult to judge... I don't think it's necessary, myLot is a discussion forum, not a professional writing site.

That is a wonderful idea! I think we should definitely do that, since some of the people who post here are really amazing, and I think they totally deserve some recognition for it!

Hello, Mturacom. I think there are pros and cons to that idea here. We're not really a writing site, nor a particular earning site - it's more about discussions, friendship and knowledge. I think some people might feel a bit discouraged if there was a 'MyLot star for the day' - particularly people who struggle with English, or are not so articulate as other users. On the positive side, I think it would be nice to put a member in the spotlight for a day, to give other members a chance to look at their discussions and comments, and maybe add a friend to their list. However, as admin seem quite stretched monitoring the vast amount of activity on here, I don't think they'd be too enthusiastic about it. That said, it's great that, as a fairly new member, you're already thinking of ideas to add to the MyLot experience. It's a great discussion topic - thank you.

actually its not a freelance writing so i dont think they can have one, besides they already offer the top 10 discussions for the day and the member will featured once their discussion is one of the top. lets just post quality discussions to be on top then.

Sounds like a good motivation. This would inspire some great discussion responses. Hope it becomes a reality on this site one day. Fingers crossed!

Hi m tura com: I think this would be a very stimulant idea that would encourage our friends and members to make their best posts so they would be named the writer of the day. I think it's a good idea because this would improve the quality of the discussions and the argumentations here in Mylot. So I think this is a good idea because the writer of the day would receive more responses in their discussions I think, he/ she also became more popular in our community so this would be nice. This sounds like a great idea. There is no chance i would ever get it but it would certainly encourage me and many others to be more active, and participate in more discussions :)

i think it will be difficult to choose the featured writer of the day as we need criteria for that and also with so many users and responses and questions, it's kind of difficult to do however it's a thing. definitely will motivate users to post quality posts.
