We should be more careful choosing the category for a discussion...

Hi dear members,
I think we should be more careful about choosing an appropriate category for our discussions. This makes it easier for others to search for a particular topic. Categories or, interests or, tags are added in a discussion in two ways. First, a discussion is categorized by the starter of the discussion itself. He chooses one from his own range of interests and then some of the participants add additional tags to it while posting their responses. I think both the starter and participant should choose these tags carefully so that no tag or interest may seem irrelevant.
Today I searched for all disucssions under a few categories and here are a few discussion headings that came as a result,
Category: Education & Reference
A Question About myLot Earnings
Write articles for money and exposure
Freelance Work, Is It Worth It?
Quietness doesn't seems to be good for me
Teacher, fired for getting pregnant before wedding
Are kids using their cell phones to cheat?
Category: Science & Mathematics
What would you do if GOD gave you his power for 1 day?
What movie do u want to see this summer?
How important is facebook for your contact?
life is hopeless
What would you do if all your money has been stolen during your trip ?
Do you eat ice cream in the winter too? Or only in the summer?
Category: Computers
unable to find neobux direct active referrals?
Earn 25$ after one referral
The price of one tiny window!!
Palmbux has turned int o scam
Does anyone here really feel confident about mylot's payout?
There are plenty of such instances, and I am really tired of searching again and again, going through pages after pages to look for a relevant discussion to participate. This mishap can be prevented, if we become little bit more careful about adding tags to the discussions.
Thanks
God bless you

It is a good point to make, and I must admit that sometimes when I start a discussion, it does take me a while to decide on which category it would be best put under, but I seem to get a good number of responses so maybe I am doing something right, well at least I hope so anyway!

Hi,
Each of us need to do only two things. We should choose two good tags/categories/interests apropos to the discussion we are about to start. Secondly, while participating in others' discussions, we will either supply one relevant, or, we will simply skip that phase. Somebody chose 'addicted' as a tag to this discussion. lol Thanks for your participation.
God bless you

searching the interest takes a bit while too but i do my best every day in keeping me from choosing the wrong topic. well, i make a topic when ever something poops out of my head not something that i would like to be part of a trend or something. as long as you don't violate rules, at least that matters.

Thanks so much for understanding the gravity of it. Yes, if we put little effort individually, things can be lot more organized, and that will be useful to us in the long run. Thanks for your participation.

I´ll agree that not everyone tags their posts in the best possible way. But sometimes the computer at mylot makes some awful mistakes too, the same way the computer corrector fails.
But I prefer to answer some of my friend´s posts (many of them quite interesting) and then browse, while I´m there, for another post I might like.
I have enough wonderful friends here to answer enough posts for the day. My friend (tons os them) are divided, of course, in people I know and care for and people that are just names for me. My friend always post at least a discusion Im interested in. I know their problems, family and ways of thinking. I´m awarw that I cant be friends with everyone in the city I live in. So I invite to my party those selected wonderful guys and gals. They talk nonsense sometimes (don´t we all?) but not always.
Happy posting1

The word was "aware". That was not the computer´s fault, but my fingers. They are 65 years old and behave like that.

Your 65 years old fingers are golden. Keep them safe. Every time I start a discussion its those fingers that puts some magic into it. Thanks once again for this valuable participation. God bless you

Hi,
I am not familiar with the word awarw. Yes, computers often make huge mistakes. That is why we should try to observe the system behavior and then adapt some method so that everything goes smooth. I really appreciate your dropping by.
God bless you

Hello getbiswa,
oh, you don't have to be worry about me here since i have known some topics that i know am familair to respond to it. some of those topics had been responded already. i rarely make a mistake with the tagging, it is very clear that wrong tagging can be deleted by the admin. but, uh. thanks for the concern, i will take note of those interest.

Hi,
Yeah, sometimes we make mistakes inadvertently, even I used to make these mistakes when I was a newbie. This is really annoying for persons who prefer search for a specific category before responding. I don't have knowledge about all the topics discussed here on myLot. If I try to respond on every possible topic, that would look so silly. This is why the search results need to be precise and accurate. Thanks so much for this response.
God bless you

I've actually seen this happening a lot too. I was like 'Wait a minute, that topic has nothing to do with the category it's in!" It's a bit frustrating to see t hat occasionally, but I think this is happening too much.
I must admit that sometimes it's hard for me to decide where my topic fits it the best, so I usually just place it in 'life.' It seems to encompass everyth8ing, don't you think?

@stephanie
Yeah thats what I was talking about
Its very frustrating dear
In case I am confused about what category to put my discussion in, I just dump it into the question & answer category. That serves well.

I respond to topics that to me seem most interesting. I do not respond to many topics about about Neobux or Palmbux because I have heard nothing but negative things about those sites.
I think the people should respond to topics that they are interested in.

Hi,
That was not what I meant. This discussion was about the tags we add to our discussions. Sometimes they are irrelevant to the topic. So when a search is launched on these tags, it gives anomalous results. I requested my fellow myLotters to choose their tags carefully, in order to make our searches more precise and accurate.
Thanks for the response

I think you are far too worried about this. If you don't happen to like a discussion topic, then don't participate in the discussion. You don't have to look through everything, nor do you have to single out only the things you are normally interested in. Try just looking at the top discussions for awhile. You are very likely to fina at least a few things you would like to respond to. When you go to categories youare interested in, just SKIP the ones you don't want to deal with. When you are categorizing, tagging, etc, set an example by doing so thoughtfully...but don't expect everyone else will follow suit. Some people just don't care OR are trying to get their dicussion viewed more by putting it in illogical places.

Hey bis! You happen to be absolutely right~ I don't always pay
attention to the category a discussion is under until after I
post because most of the time I am posting from my emails. But,
sometimes when I do look I am shocked to see what the discussion
is posted under and I am totally confused! Like some of the topics
you have listed they make no sense whatsoever! I know when I
want to start a discussion I go take a long look at the topics
and then decide what topic I think would be most appropriate. It
is obvious that some people don't care!

Hi Opal,
Its just that I don't want my inbox to get overwhelmed by hundreds of mails everyday. I disabled all possible notifications from myLot, except the one that says one of my discussions have been responded. Thanks for understanding me. I am not concerned about 'some' people. At least a few people will start considering it after participating in this discussion, and thats enough for me. I know you will, and many of the participants already have. Thanks once again for this wonderful response.
God bless you

I know that when I personally am starting a discussion, I always try to look for the category that is the most appropriate for what I want to say. However, there are times that what I want to say doesn't easily fit into a specific interest category and in those situations I will typically turn to questions and answers because that category is one that will encompass almost every question that you want to ask.

Yeah, that is exactly how I use that Question & Answer category. When I am totally confused about choosing the category, this Q&A comes as a savior. But things often get messy when participants start submitting diverse interest range to a discussion that is supposed to be under a very specific category. This freaks out the search engine. Thanks so much for your participation. God bless you

This is such a good discussion and a great reminder for us all to be responsible in posting and tagging discussions. I laughed when I read those categories and discussions you have posted above but seriously it shouldn't be that way. Despite the effort of the admin to organize and make the as clean and simple as possible there are still this inconsistencies.

Ye, you got it right. We shouldn't leave everything on admin. If we can be a little bit more careful while submitting our tags, things may get lot easier for ourselves. This is not mandatory, which means, it entirely depends upon the awareness of the members. Thanks so much for participating in this discussion. God bless you

Some tags would lead to just one post: the first one . I have seen tags such as "how would you discipline your children" instead of using "parenting", "children" or "discipline". That post gets lost forever.

Thats right, whenever I can't find any appropriate category, I change my heading into a question and then dump it in the Q&A category. But things become more complicated when the participants start posting irrelevant tags. During a tag based search this gives anomalous results. A little consciousness on our part may make these searches more accurate. Thanks so much for your participation.
