Do You Find That Time Spent On The Internet Goes The Quickest?

It never fails to amaze me how quickly the time passes whilst I am on the internet. I don't necessarily have to be in MyLot, I could be anywhere online and the time just FLIES! This would not be the case if I was at work (not there at the moment but I have experienced it lol) or if I was doing anything else in the house..or even going shopping. The time always flies quicker online and I don't know why that is.
Do you?

Hi Jane,
Time runs fast when you are sitting down, so engrossed and doing your best to reach your daily goal. when you check the time...it's over. you've been seated for quite a long while but never gets tired of your internet activities.

That's very true Winky! In fact, I do think the internet has replaced books in my life. At one time I could sit and read a book in a few hours and look at the clock in amazement...it's the same on my computer. It is total escapism as well, don't you think?

"Time flies when you're having fun"?
I find that, if I have to hurry up and do something else, it takes longer to get through a site than if I wasn't concerned with the other, if you know what I mean.

Hi BBP,
...you are right. as long as you we are enjoying and really having fun with the internet, we don't even mind the time. i think we need to have an alarm clock to be set so we will be guided that our time is up and we need to attend to some other concerns hahahaha!

Hi girls! Yes, I do know what you mean. I'm one of those people that has to play trial games for free rather than buying them...and that hour just flies by in the blink of an eye. Yes, time DOES fly when we are all enjoying ourselves, especially on MyLot!

Oh i agree with you there but not only in the net, any activity that we like to do makes the time fly so much fast as compared to doing activities we dont enjoy. I myself had spent 12 hrs. straight sitting in front of the pc, just reading webpages. I also ate my dinner in front of the pc as well. But i think the person to beat when it comes to that would be my friend, coz he spent 27 hrs. straight, with no food, in an internet cafe. And what was he doing? Playing poker on facebook. Oh well. Now that's what i call 'endurance' lol.

Yup they sell food, usually pastries but very few cafe's sell those in our country, ive only been in 1 once and it was in a mall. Here in our country, the trend here is that cafe's sell just junkfood and drinks, but most dont sell food anymore even those in malls. Anyway, he was online with no food for 27 hrs. since the village cafe that he went to doesnt sell food as well. I couldnt be without food for 10 hrs., and my eyes would surely get blurry after 8 hrs. So i admire his longevity, really. Lol.

I've often thought if internet cafes actually sold food cos cafes do don't they? Over here they are well expensive so I hope your friend wasn't ripped off playing poker for 27 hours. Goodness me, it's a shame a representative from the Guinness Book Of World Records wasn't on stand-by to witness this momentous event.

Oh yeah, it certainly does. Each morning I wake early and jump online trying to get through as much stuff as possible before the rest of the house wakes up. And each morning I am amazed at how quickly the time has passed. I have already been up for an hour - WOW!
I have wasted many Saturday mornings too, just doing things online and before I know it the whole morning has gone. I used to stay online at night time too, but I try to avoid that habit now as it was too draining staying up late messing about on the computer. It would be midnight before I knew it.

Yeah, kids do tend to take up a lot of time. They are not good at doing anything quickly!

Well, my body clock works the opposite way to yours. I tend to come alive in the afternoon and be online late at night, never beyond 2am though lol.
I do know what you mean about how fast the time goes online, it's nowhere near as fast doing stuff around the house or even watching television.
It's a good job I don't have any children because I don't know where I'd fit them into my life. That's awful isn't it!

There's nothing worse than days dragging but, having said that we wouldn't want to wish our lives away. I mean, I cannot believe Wimbledon is upon us (again) next week. It doesn't seem five minutes ago that Federer beat Roddick in the Final last year!

Yah, it really flies so fast when we are on the internet. Actually, time flies fast not just on the internet but also when we are having fun, examples of this are playing our favorite sport or computer games. On the other side, time seems to move slow when we are doing something boring or things that we hate, or even doing nothing at all.

You have hit it on the head there my friend! If I am somewhere I don't really want to be I try to avoid looking at clocks or my watch as the more I do it, the more the time will drag. On the internet, however, I have the lovely digital clock in the bottom right hand corner of the screen reliably informing me that an hour has passed in a blink of an eye!

This is one of the reasons I cancelled my Facebook account! Spent too much time on it! MyLot is the same but I prefer it as people reply to what I say, on Facebook my so-called friends couldn't be bothered. I was also addicted to Bejeweled Blitz as I was always trying to beat my sister-in-law's score! Not good as I reckon she cheated. Haha!

There was a job I had for the Council many years ago and - because we were upstairs (temps) away from the general workers we could actually type and play Walkmans at the same time. I loved it and we all got loads of work done. Time flew then as well!

i log on most evenings, when i can, i have a mountain of emails, but can i get down the back log, no i can'tyou start out all good intentions, sort out all my e mails, and put them in their files, look at the clock and its well past midnight and you 've been logged on since 8/9 oclock. where does the time go, beats me, but everyone at work is also saying logon speed is slowing down night after night.

We can spend ages dealing with our emails and that's before we've logged on anywhere. It ain't half time-consuming like you say. Is the slow log-on speed limited to work or home as well?

I do find that time passes soo fast when ever i am on the internet.I also find that i loose track of the time aswell and before i know it i have been on the internet for hours rather than a few minuites like it feels.I also find that all other things seem to drag on.

It's a strange phenomenon isn't it? I mean, I have watched a few footy games on the telly with the World Cup being on and some of those games have been so boring and have dragged on and on...yet, when I'm on the internet (sometimes bored but not often) the time will fly a lot quicker, I don't understand it!

I have to agree at times, time seems to fly so fast when you are the internet because you are distracted by it. Though at times I space out I feel when I use the internet, time passes by so slow. Don't you ever feel that at times?

Well, on the rare occasions I'm bored using the internet, yes, you are quite right, the time does go slowly then...and I log off as I can't be bothered browsing anymore.

hello,I think I agree with you.the time always flies so quick when you are having something fun.but at the another side, the time will fly very slow if you do something that you interested.when I am play games and online, the time passes quicker than others.

Hello there! Welcome to MyLot! Well, at least we are doing something we like. I don't mind the time flying if that is so. However, if we do something we don't like then the time drags! Very strange!

Yes, time flies when I am online as well...as longn as I am enjoying myself. When I am bored or getting pissed off, time either feels normal or as if it has slowed way down. Where time truly flies for me is at a concert. Even before the band I am there to see plays, the time seems to move much quicker...even when i am VERY impatient to see my band LOL. When they come on and play, an hour feels like a few minutes and I am always amazed when the last song is played.

Aaaah, gigs, a great way to enjoy yourself. I've been to a few in my time and you are right, the time flies when a good band plays. Festivals are good though because they last all day..the ones I've been to anyhow.

Maybe its for the simple reason that you are able to do so many different things on the computer that you lose track of the time. Not to mention being on the internet is alot more fun then being at work. That is why I go on the internet for only certain time periods during the day. Don't get me wrong there are times that I will be on for hours but I'm also doing other things such as, cleaning and laundry. I think its like anything else if you enjoy doing something the time will fly by and if you don't enjoy something its like time has stood still.

I'm like you, I do find time for other things as well otherwise I might find the internet boring (as if) lol.
I really wish I had a garden though as it was sunny for most of the afternoon (warm too) and I only have a yard in which to enjoy the sun, and that's only when I'm pegging washing out or keeping my eye on the cat!
One day...ONE DAY we shall have a house with a garden. Don't get me wrong, we do grow plants in a small area but how I wish I had a massive garden to grow something big in like a tree that birds could nest in. That would be ace!

The time does seem to fly by while I'm on the internet, A few minutes can be an hour before you know it. i think it's because we are so engrossed in what we are doing that we don't notice the time ticking by.

MyLot can take up a lot of time too, can't it? Never starts that way, but, like you say, we become engrossed in what we are doing.
Now, I really MUST check up on when that Edinburgh Festival starts, I've been meaning to do this all week but keep getting distracted!

Sure it does, but not only in internet. When i keep my mind busy, the time always seems to goes quickest. differently of you it happens to me in my work, in my house, whatever is the case, but when i am at work with nothing to do, the time seems to goes 10 times more slow. hehe

Yes, I know what you mean. Being in the workplace can be so boring if there isn't enough to do, especially if one works full-time, which is - generally 37 hours a week here. Many people choose to work part-time these days, though, as they tend to have more work to do lol.

The answer is very, very simple. Time flies while you are on the internet because you are having fun while your mind is taking a break. Your mind isnt paying as much attention to anything while you are on the internet.

That's so true. It's not exactly a pressurised environment to be in so this "hobby" can take up quite a big chunk of our lives but we do make lots of friends along the way.
It's great..and welcome to MyLot!

Yes, of course, I feel like I sometimes go online, feel like I sit there for a few moments, and already three hours went by! I have no idea why that is, but it really goes much faster when you are online. Funny thing, really!

I feel the same way. Where on earth does all that time go? The first time I used the internet was at a friend's house and it was in the days of a penny a minute internet...and I couldn't believe how fast that hour went. These days it's a monthly contract for everyone here in the UK, which I suppose is just as well!
