How does freelancing work and how to get the work?

I am in doubt how freelancing works (websites like freelancer.com). How to get a project as i always bid even i though i am potent in completing a work i am not given as i am lack reviews. Secondly wont the people who have posted projects dupe us after we complete there work?

Well,there is a possibility that they might dupe us after they get what they want.Online jobs are not always safe.I have participated in some Witkey sites.And most of them are reliable.Maybe you should use the search engine first and get some information about the sites you want to join.If most of the comments are positive,then it worthes a try.
