My Friend and the unreliable Landscape Gardener

My friend hired a landscape gardener to do some work for her. Unfortunately, she gave him money up front and he did not complete the work. After 6 months of him promissing to do the work, she cut her losses and hired and paid for someone else to complete the work.
The first Landscape has been telephoning her and threatening to destroy her garden. She has involved a lawyer and he no longer contacts her but telephones the Lawyer making the same threats about destroying her garden and decking. The police will not get involve as he has not committed any crime as yet.
I am concerned for my friend and this is making her ill and affecting her work as she has to leave work and go home in case he turns up to destroy her garden.
Does anyone have any advise that I can pass onto her, he has said that if she pays him £500 that he will leave her alone, but she does not want to pay him as she feels he does not deserve to be paid as he did not complete the work and did not turn up when he said he would.

Your friend should take care in the future when choosing professional services. This is what better business bureaus were made for. There are so many reputable people out there eager for business. yet there are others just out to scam us. Take care!

Thanks for your advice, I am sure that he will get what he deserves, people like him usually upset the wrong people and pay the price for doing it.

She should go buy some cameras and put up around her yard. She doesnt' have to get expensive ones. Having video footage is one of the best ways to win in court now days. She can also but a warrant out for his arrest for harrasement. I would look into getting a different attorney as well. If someone threatens an attorney and they don't do anything, something is wrong.

Thanks for your advice, he has not threatened the Lawyer and I feel that he is all talk and hopefully no action. She asked the police if she could put up a camera and they have said that this is unlawful. I wonder who side the law is on.
