It was a great match on last Saturday night match, U.S. vs England. They are both tie, 1 - 1. Not bad for the United States. Really, I had lived in the United States for while, and I don't see many people into Soccer that sports. They are either crazy about Baseball; Basketball; Hockey; Football. I can't think of other popular sports. On the other hand, people from Europe, South America, even the Mexican people, they are all into soccer, crazy about it. So, even Mexico is the border of The U.S. why soccer wasn't popular among U.S. people?

Actually Soccer has a lot of competition with United States sports like Baseball, Basket ball and NFL. So given this competition soccer is not yet the most popular sport, but most of the schools in US now sport a decent soccer team and MLS is beginning to gain in popularity. Also Women's soccer is really hot in US and they have also won the women's world cup a few times!!
Cheers!

I have no idea. Maybe they like the idea of carrying the ball or everyone of the opposing team jumping on the poor guy carrying the ball. It is a wonder he does not wind up like a pancake. Or maybe it is an excuse to not go home with all those calls that really stretch the game to make it last for hours.

American can not play the game of soccer. Rightfully named football. This is a game played by the south american. It is a game that all kids play just in the streets. They are just naturally talented. You cannot play it on steriods or they won't let you. They are very strict and disaplined. American cannot get a hold of it. So what do they do. Come up with a game of their own called football and change this game name to soccer. To me and all the south americans its football.
Happy lotting.

I think it just that soccer field is just too big for them. Most of their sport have lots of rest time and they don't need to constantly run of big field compare to basketball. Still I saw soccer are still growing in State and they produce quit a few good player like, Donovan, Dempsey, Howard and the likes of future rising star Findley and Altidore.

They think its a boring sport. Their version of "football" is played in spurts. They like quick (blitz) and spectacular plays done in a short span of time to make a point. You could also say this in other sports; Basketball, Hockey, Baseball etc...

It is just the games they grew up with. For example, I'm not trying to be stereotypical here but I live in Miami, and practically all the Cubans I know that were born over there just love baseball. Not that they have anything that makes them different, but just that its the fact that its the sport grew up with, and the sport they try to get their children into. I'm from Guatemala (south of Mexico) and soccer is definitely the sport of the country! I guess somewhere along the line people began to like specific sports more than others, they got into it, their children got into it, and after a few generations most of the country was into it.
