Why do fishes do not have long lives?

I used to have gold fishes as my pets when I was little but they do have long lives like humans do. We feed them everyday and change water frequently but it still doesn't help keep them around for a long time.
Do all fishes in the sea have short lives like gold fishes?

Where did you get the water from? Did you get it from the faucet? Coz if you did, the fish will certainly die. You see, the water in the faucet is treated with chlorine and other chemicals that make it really clean and potable for human consumption. Fishes on the other hand may have difficulty in adjusting to those type of water. You get some water from the rain or the well because they're more natural. Don't polish the tank too much, leave some spot for the algae to grow, and put lots of seaweed to keep your fish happy! :D

A bit about care:
http://www.firsttankguide.net/goldfish.php
http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/goldfish/CometGoldfish.php
The second one has entries for different types of goldfish.
http://www.petplace.com/fish/life-expectancy-of-fish/page1.aspx says that goldfish can live up to 15 years with proper care, the oldest one was 30. Angel fish allegedly live 10 years.

Tropical fishes(like gold fish, guppies, fighters,goromees,etccc..) are sensitive to weather conditions. They live longer in the atmospheric controlled aquariums. They are nice pets and short live, infarct no pets can as longer as man can live.

if i remember it right the longest living gold fish pet lived for 45 years.
do you have a temperate weather? some fish are sensitive to high temperature and die, i used to have fish ball in my business office but the weather there is not air-conditioned and since we have a very humid temperature (32 degrees Celsius normally)...my fish die in a mother of weeks i try to replace it with new ones but the same result until i gave up..

I'm not 100% sure about this, but i know friends of mine use oxygen tablets for their fish. Or larger tanks have machines which oxidise the water, making it easier for the fish to breathe? Or something like that. I don't know if goldfish need it. Something for a petstore owner to say.
