I'm just curious to see who out there is in this situation. Have you graduated college, and gotten some kind of degree, just to be still working in an entry-level position or a low-paying job?
How do we avoid getting into these kinds of situations? What did you major in, and where do you work now?

Actually, sometimes, it may be degree and job mismatch. Some people may have studied engineering but went on to do business related jobs. Then although you have the qualification, you don't have the skills necessary for that job. So it's likely that your pay would be low. Of course, the starting salary for undergraduates is also not that high. So you also have to define how much you considered low-paying. But as long as you have the good attitude and skills, you would advance fast in company hierarchy and will see yourself earning much more few years down the road.

I agree with you. And I feel that some majors and degrees in college just don't have very much merit or hope in getting a good career with it, you know? Some just seem like duds. Not that you can't join a company and work up, but then it seems kind of useless to have spent all that money going to school in the first place... Ahh. Well thanks for your response!

If you just fresh graduate then you need to accept the fact to be consider in the first entry since no experience yet.. dont look for the high paying job but look for a job that will help you in your future. Accept small salary and learn as much as possible in your work. Stay in the company for 3 years. Most of the company consider 3 years experience as a good point in hiring employee. If you just 1 to 2 years then consider you in first entry level. But if you have 5 years working experience and considering you as entry level then you need to ask the employer or yourself. May be the skill is not that great.
