Spain lost their first match. Is this the end for them?

Spain's defeat against Switzerland was may be the first shock of this world cup. The number one holder in FIFA Ranking, the European Champion, all those international superstars in every position, they just couldn't break the solid defensive line of Swiss. It then kinda reminded me of World Cup '98 when they lost 3-2 to Nigeria in their first match. They were eventually eliminated even though in the last match had a massive victory against Bulgaria. So, is this the sign of exiting for La Furia Roja? I hope not, because Spain is my favourite in this tournament. However, seeing their play against Swiss, I seem to be a bit pessimistic...

So the noise is rising again. Is this Spain again choking in an important tournament? But having said that Spain has two matches to salvage their world cup and they are good enough to do that. I think Del Bosque needs to be more attacking in his squad selection for the next two matches. He has to start with Torres and Fabregas. And he needs to get somebody who can cross the ball from both the wings. Both the wingers could hardly manage to put a ball in for the forwards from the wings. But definitely it is not the end of the road for Spain. Not yet :) Cheers! Ram

Nope, I think they usually have great wingers, but I guess they are struggling with the Jabulani ball. Cheers! Ram

I think it's the problem with the squad, they don't have great wingers as Argentina do...

I do too feel kinda strange seeing this ball, they said that it's too light, or the gravity of the ground a bit low? Some of the goals with this ball are great, such as Maicon's, but too many of them are kinda silly goals.. *take a pick of Robert Green at the bench*

What has gone wrong here. It was a disappointment. And I'm terribly shocked. Could it be they were too over-confident? They need lots of psychological work to be back on their heads and feet. Hope they make it the next match. Otherwise...

Yep, the same problem happened to France in 2002, when they, as the number 1 in FIFA ranking unexpectedly was eliminated in the group stage without scoring any goal.

It was very dissapointing to see thatah spain lossing to swis. the main draw back i seen was spain was unable to score a single goal. the goal they conceeded was not fully the fault of defence it was a goal the swis got from arare situation. but i dont think that its the end for spain.

Their finishing touch was awful! I just didn't understand, with Villa, Silva, and also Torres in front, they seemed frustrated...

I don't whether this will be the end for them, but the thing is that losing to a team that you were sure to beat easily will always cause some negative psychological feedback. This loss might as well hurt them in the long run.

@ Matrick Yeah, I hope they can overcome their psychological trouble. Players with their reputation don't deserve to go home earlier.
