USB Drive problems

A few months ago I got my first USB drive. It was marvelous! I was able to backup all my files on a single source. My big problem was that I used it on my laptop and my laptop gets bumped a lot. Before I knew it, my USB drive was all bent out of shape and broken! Alack and alas! Hard lesson learned. I will definitely take better care of the next one I get. Fortunately I also have external floppy and zip disk drives, although they take longer to save and transfer things to and from. Anyone out there have any helpful tips from lessons learned the hard way about their external drives? I have also noticed the same thing happens to my mouse connection to the USB port. These things sure bend easily!

sad to hear that . . but this does happen with me also .. the usb connectors bend all the time if we do not handle them with care. so next time we need to take care. also we can cover it with some hard material so that it does not bend the next time.

yeah...I never realized before how fragile they really are. I am being more careful these days. Thanks for the reply. :)

One lesson I learned about external drives, never trust them completely. Flash drives and non-solid state drives sometimes mysteriously lose their data if they are mishandled, always, ALWAYS, have another backup

And keep your disks away from MAGNETS! They will wipe your disks clean when you don't want them to. :)
