my friend was in the hospital for 2 months now. and we're all shocked of the news that he is suffering from acute immunodeficiency syndrome. he was like giving up when we told him about his condition =( any suggestions on how to make him feel better/?

How sad. Counseling can help. Try to make him feel better by encouraging him to be strong for his loved ones. As much as possible don't show to him that he has this condition because that gesture will only trigger depression.

When people keep talking about his illness, he surely will feel depressed. It may be good to behave normally and cheer him up. Treat him like a friend who's sick, not like a patient. My teacher once told me he had a friend who's dying in the hospital, and he's the only one who's allowed inside the ward because whenever he went, he will make jokes and be so positive around the sick friend that he always feel better after that. Maybe you can try it?
