Why is that?

Hee hee! When the ice cream truck comes, I pretend I am broke - ha ha!! Their ice cream isn't so good anymore - and for the price I could get a whole box to keep in the fridge! The last time we got ice cream from a truck, the ice cream tasted stale . . . it was as if it melted once and then frozen again - I hate chewy, icy ice cream! So I don't buy from them anymore. The ice cream trucks are seen mostly in the parks rather than in the neighborhoods out here - probably because there aren't too many kids playing outside these days.

Hi Shelly, I hardly ever have cash in my purse but I have a demi-john that I putloose change in and that usually solves the problem as I can usually raid enough from it for an ice cream. I don't buy for me but do buy one for my son when it comes around. Huggles. Ellie :D

Perhaps because when you do have cash on hand you are not thinking about running outside to catch the ice cream truck so you do not notice when it comes by your house playing that music.
I have not bought anything from an ice cream truck in a long time. Perhaps it is because I don't eat ice cream that much or perhaps it is because I am too lazy to leave the house and run out to the street chasing down the ice cream man

The ice cresm truck just seems to know when you have no money. You also have disappointed chidren crying for you to get the ice cream truck to stop for them. It can be embarrassing for sure. I live in a rural area now so the ice cream truck doesn't come our way. When I was a child, the ice cream truck was a daily occurrence in my neighborhood.

Oh my goodness, where I use to live it came by everyday-pretty much at the same time. Funny my baby girl use to hear the ice cream truck from a mile away. She use to run from my dinning room huge windows following it all the way across the room until she ran out of windows and then run to my bed room windows. As the truck moved so they she through all the windows. She would then run to the front room windows and follow it until she ran out of windows.
Funny she would never scream, ice cream man or I want ice cream she would just follow the beautiful truck, from her eye's point of view and actions. I would run around the house scrounging for change so I could chase after the truck, because I knew my baby wanted ice-cream. Sometimes I would gather enough then other times I didn't have enough.
Now where I live no truck ever passes by and my daughter is well grown, so whenever I hear one anywhere it brings joy and tears combined remembering those silly days.

the ice cream trucks used to come by all the time, but when i get home from work or even on the weekends i do walk the dog and talk to neighbors outside and never hear the ice cream truck anymore. Not sure if it is because of the economy or what, but i would think they would want to be selling ice cream to the ids around town because School is out and they are playing outside all the time now.
I wish i had the ice cream truck around town because even as an adult i would buy some ice cream like i was a little kid again. I usually have some change around the house and usually in the laundry room so i should always have some money for the ice cream man when he comes by.

Ice cream trucks are rare where I live. I love ice cream, so I hunt for money when I hear one. Usually I am plain broke when it comes by. I have the same problem as you. When I do have money on me, it never comes by. I guess you should bring money and not let the "ones in the sky" know that your waiting for the ice cream truck.
