I have been having such trouble with my computer lately

I was looking at expanding my RAM to 4G in my computer, but wasn't sure that it was upgradable to that. It is a 2G now. I have had this computer for 3 years now and it has run fairly faultlessly without any real big problems. Now all of the sudden the other day I cleaned all of the dust out of my heat sink and out of my computer., which is something I do every month or two, and it wouldn't come back on. Then I broke a plug on the wire that runs from my hard drive to my motherboard. Then I removed the one odd RAM board and it started workinga again. But now every time it starts to get overloaded it shuts down on me. My question is should I upgrade it like I planned or get another one? I built this one but it is time for a com with more ram and more memory space.

Hi, What happened out there is that you've accidentally removed the thermal paste while cleaning your heat sink. This is what making your processor shut down which is called thermal rundown or, more popularly, processor overheat. Now you have to buy that thermal paste and put some on the back of your processor core. Ordinarily thermal paste are conducting material that is meant to conduct heat from processor to the heat sink. Some of the modern processors don't need this anymore. Thanks God bless you

I am no computer expert but it sounds to me like it might be better to send your PC to the big computer stock pile in the sky and replace it!!!

I am a semi-expert. I built this one and the one that I had b4 it from an HP barebones system. I have the components to rebuild it. I even have a brand new unused motherboard just sitting around that I should have brought online by now. This one up until now has never given me any real trouble except for the fans being noisy. Seeing as how money is tighter than a dress bought 2 sizes too small at my house (with little or no sign of it relenting anytime real soon!) Also since I don't have to spend any money to try top reconfigure it, it is only a loss of my online time, because I work on the internet the more time I spend playing with, reconfiguring, and troubleshooting the less time I can spend onlne making more money.

actually your computer is shutting down after load .. it is because of the excessive heating.. you will need to keep your pc case open in a place where there is loads of cool air.. like you can switch on your ac and try.. if the comp works fine after this then its the problem with your cooling .. maybe your cpu fans are not working properly .. or something is blocking it from getting air..

Well if you have the money I suggest you upgrade, it will worth it.I don't know what kind of computer you have but nowadays you could get a quad core and a DirectX 11 Videocard on more acceptable prices and an even cheaper 1TB Hard Disk, all and all it just depends for what you'll use that computer.

To help you with your problem you need to state the exact specs of your PC, especially the mobo (motherboard). Why do you have to clean all the dust in your heat sink anyway?? I don't really think you have to. I only clean the dusts inside my cpu if I have to replace/repair something. Now about buying or upgrading your PC, ofcourse it depends on 1: budget 2: what do you use your computer for 3: If it is upgradable. If you think you need to make your pc much faster, rams won't do much good, considering your pc is already 3 yo, about the memory storage, there is no problem about it, just buy a 1 TERRA or 2, its not that expensive. I hope this helped!

Look for the model of your motherboard through the internet, for you to know if your motherboard can handle 4 gigabytes of ram because every motherboard has a limitations. And to your problem that your pc is shutting down, i think it's because of overheating. Check all the fan if it is working especially the fan of the processor, maybe you disconnect something.. Hope it helped, God Bless..

I think Personal Computers, like many other technological and electronic gadgets are good for 2 to 3 years only and then should be replaced after that. The development of electronic devices now are noticeably very fast, prices drop in just a few months after the new items are released simply because better models come out. Anyway, if you think that you can salvage your computer and save more than buying a new one for whatever purpose it is that you want it to operate then just send it to experts and let them check it out for necessary repairs, but if you're really looking forward for an upgrade then buy a new one. Good luck!

I preferred that you should buy one... and also all motherboard has limitation in terms of upgrading especially in RAM... and if you want some idea about performance visit: http://computersight.com/hardware/video-cards/overclocking-your-cpu-to-the-extreme/

if you want to add ram to this board take my advice just by singal ram 4gb. because there are compatibility issue also. single is better. second if you have three year old computer its better to buy new one with latest feature.
