On Sunday, it will be 3 weeks since Blackstone and Jupiter went outside and never came home. Jupiter is 8 and Blackstone, her son, is 6. Neither one of them have disappeared like this before and Blackstone never really goes outside for long at all. I've contacted the local Humane Society and the 2 are on the lost list, but they haven't showed up at the shelter. Both cats have been fixed and never wander far from home. I've searched the neighborhood calling them, but they are nowhere to be found. Unless someone has them inside their house or they have met with foul play they should be home. What else could have happened?

True story! Hope this helps you!!!
One day I was in our nearby town shopping and in the parking lot I found a cat with a coller and a 'bell' on her. I didn't want her to get hit as it was a large parking lot and in a shopping plaza and no nearby homes, so after I chased her under 2 or 3 cars I finally got her and I brought her home. I put an add in the paper describing her (we named her tinker, because of the bell). A friend seen my cat I had found and was reading the paper, the same one I had put an add in, I was also reading the adds and I seen the add for the lost kitten but didn't think it sounded like the one I found. My friend put the 2 together and told me about it so I called and found the rightful owner. This took about 2 or 3 weeks. The owner had taken the cat to the vet then went to the grocery store and the cat got out of the car and she couldn't find it.
So my advice, put an add in the paper, reread the adds in the paper and call them to double check. Sometimes we don't see the same thing in the same way!! Best of luck to you.

In our case I was 20 miles north of the town I found the cat and the owner lived 20 mies East of the town so that is 40 miles apart. I had a cat that never left my porch barn yard, but it came up missing one day. About a week later my daughter seen our cat on the bus it was about 4 miles from our house. We went and got him. I had another neighbor that called me one time and wanted to know if I had lost a cat becasue she had a stray show up and it wouldn't stop meowing, it was our calico that I called mischief. Took her almost 2 weeks to quit protesting having gotten lost!!!! I hope these experiences give you 'hope'. Maybe you should go 'door to door' and look for your cats. Maybe someone is giving them food and shelter till they find the owners. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for that. The one thing that really annoys me is my cats never wander very far at all. If a neighbor has them, all they would have to do is let them out so they could come home. Remember, I've had these cats for years and this is not like them at all, plus they would have had to either trap or chase the cats in order to catch them, both cats would have run if someone approached them and they would have jumped right in our bedroom window. That's the one simple fact that has me most worried about them. I hope they get free and come home soon, and more than anything I hope they haven't fell victim to foul play.

Yes that does give hope. Thank you. Yesterday the Humane Society called. A black cat was found in the area and it matched Blackstone's description. Sadly, it wasn't Blackstone. Even more sad, he is obviously someone's pet either lost or abandoned, hopefully not abandoned.

Oh so sorry to read that your beloved cats are missing.
My cat stays indoors of course there are plenty of windows so he can see out side and smell the fresh air, also I plan to move into a bigger place with a screened in sun porch, so my cat can still enjoy a little of the out doors. but I dont allow my cat to wounder outside because of things like what you posted about I dont want to risk my cat getting lost or stolen, also my cat is neutered.
But enough about that I hope and prey that your kitty's are returned to you quickly and safely as for what can happen I'd rather not think about that, instead I recommend that you consider knocking on your neighbor's door with pic in hand during daylight hours, and politely ask if they have seen the cats around. and if they happen have the cats maybe they didnt know they were yours and maybe they'll return them.

I see. well when I found my cat 4 years ago he was very young still a kitten in fact, and as I raised him from kitten-hood he had less, and less direct exposure to the out doors. so now that he's all grown up he's still curious and enjoys watching the squirrels out side but he's extremely hesitant to actually go out there because he's grown use to being inside he now feels more comfortable inside.
You kinda have to start when there little, meaning if the cat is already grown and use to being out side they'll most likely be unhappy not being able to go out, but if you raise them from a kitten and lessen there outside exposure they will grow happy being inside and beg to go out less or not at all.

My mom has one of Jupiter's kittens (not a kitten anymore). She never lets him out and she's had him for 5 years. He still tries to get out and seems a bit annoyed that he's not allowed out. I honestly think its in their genes to be outdoors if they are born from an outdoor cat. Of course, I could be wrong, but based on what I've experienced with the cats over the years, they do indeed like to explore...thus "curiosity killed the cat". All of our 5 cats have been raised from kittens..Scout and Blackstone were raised from birth, Peek-A-Boo is the only one not raised from kittenhood. They all desire to be outdoors.

Thank you apples99, your cat looks just like Jupiter. Sadly, my cats are used to having their freedom and get relentless when it comes to going out and even coming back in. Blackstone actually ripped the screen in the bedroom window so they could come and go as they please. He worked on it from both inside and outside, ripping it more and more each time he wanted out or in. Eventually he ripped it enough so I would have to open the window for them. Scout and Liberty were the only 2 that would use the window, but now Scout even uses it.

I haven't posted pictures nor signs. My one cat, Ranger, goes out all day and comes home at night. My next step is to follow him to see where he goes. He might just lead me to the other two. I was thinking about offering a reward, but I'm quite sure the two cats are being held against their will or else they have met with foul play. I'm also worried about posting my phone number around the neighborhood because some of the people around here thrive on trouble and will go out of their way to start it. My girlfriend is convinced they have been killed and will not be home.

Hi Tomcat, I really do hope that you find them, very strange for them both to be missing too. Maybe they were both snuggled up asleep in a shed and someone withoutrealising has shut them in, I would do as Elic suggests and go door knocking and ask people to check outbuildings etc. and put as many picture posters of them up in the local area as possible. I would also contact local vets to see if they have had any injured cats taken to them because that is how I discovered Button one of my missing cats, she had been run over bless, sadly didn't make it, but at least I wasn't left wondering eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

It is very strange indeed Tomcat, try the vets as they may know something about their disappearance and failing that know this sounds harsh but you haven't heardany reports of catnappings in the area because some people steal these cats and then sell on especially if they are special breeds like persian, but neutered toms I wouldn't have thought so, do really hope they come back to you somehow, must be a very worrying time for you, I have two cats myself and would be distraught if anything happened to either of them but for both, I would be beside myself. Huggles. Ellie :D

Thanks ellie. I actually had 5 cats when we moved to this apartment, then we rescued Peek-a-Boo from the basement putting us at 6 cats. Well, as it goes, Peek-a-Boo went back to the basement 3 days ago and won't come out, so now we are down to 3 cats, but at least we know where Peek-a-Boo is. This time around we aren't giving her any food so when she gets hungry enough, she'll come out of there. I wish it was that easy when it come to Blackstone and Jupiter.
Tom

If they were trapped in any of the sheds around here I would definitely hear Blackstone. He meows very loud when he wants, so unless he's in someone's house, he would have heard me calling him and meowed for me to get him. I didn't think of calling the vet, that's a good idea. There is only one in the area, but for both cats to be injured at the same time is not likely, especially since they didn't wander off together.

Thank you saphrina. It is indeed very strange that they disappeared, especially both on the same day. Normally, I'd be sitting here now with Blackstone on my lap. Whenever I got on the computer, he would jump up on my lap. Jupiter was like a little masseuse and would knead me whenever she had the chance. If I laid on the bed, I could even tell her where to knead my back. I would say "down a little lower" and she would listen. My GF says my cats are like my children and sometimes she goes as far as saying I care more about the cats than I care about her. I know they would be home if they could be, so something is definitely not right.

Well, its either they got lost, or in the care of someone else, or heaven forbid, something bad may have happened to them. I hope your cats sport a tag on their neck with your address and contact number in it so that at least, if the people who found your kitten are interested in giving them back to you, then at least they know where to contact you. I hope you find your cats soon, since having no idea where your cats might be is a very sad situation for a pet owner.

Hi Tomcat,
I am sorry to hear about your missing cats! I hope they have found their way to a family who is taking good care of them. Fisher cats are known for preying on domestic cats. I don't know about your area but where I live there are so many of them. Pets are like children...we have to protect them from all the predators. I hope you find them safe and sound, tomcat.

Thank you! One thing I do worry about are the dogs in the neighborhood, but my cats know enough to avoid that kind of danger. One thing is certain, Jupiter would put up one hell of a fight, Blackstone I'm not so sure about, he was more of a timid cat. I'm still hoping they do get home soon. It'll be 3 weeks on Sunday.

I am so sorry to hear your cats are missing! I have two cats and I love them so I appreciate how concerned you must be. Are they micro chipped? Regardless, cats that have been ‘fixed’ usually return home unless they can’t for some reason and chances are someone may have taken them. One of my cats disappeared for three days once and I was so worried until she returned home and as soon as I spotted her again I whisked inside to join my other cat that had been an indoor cat since we got him. Neither of them goes outside now. Did your cats have tags on them? I would try putting flyers in as many places as possible including people’s letter boxes and contacting all vets and shelters around the area. I pray that you find them again; I wholeheartedly hope they are okay. Try to think positive and do all you can. I am so sorry this has happened to you...

People who hate cats really don't know cats all that well. Sadly, not every is like the rest of us cat lovers. I did see two black cats in two different areas on two different days. I was in my car both times, and both times when I called Blackstone's name the both cats turned and looked. When I returned on foot to find them, they had vanished and were nowhere to be found. Blackstone would have waited for me. Believe me, I'm very worried about both cats, especially Blackstone. Jupiter is more of a survivor whereas I think Blackstone is more vulnerable. He's very timid and not as aggressive as Jupiter. Jupiter has had enough litters to get that protective instinct. Thanks for being you Paula.

OMG..that's so sad!! That's the worst that could happen to a cat lover/ cat owner!! My cat disappeared once for 3 days in a row and we were so worried about her, cursing those people who might have stolen her from us or harmed her!! And then she struts in at 5am on the third day. We thought it was a ghost!! lol. We were lucky then. Her son, whom I loved so much went away one day and never ever returned!!! I'm sure someone stole him, he wouldn't have deserted us. I still remember how he used to come and look at me and all I need to say was "come" and he would jump on my lap and have a nice snooze!!! How I've missed that cat :-( I Hope you find your cats soon and nothing has happened to them!!
