Do you remember your age when you learn or started reading? Have you tried asking your parents about it? I was told by mom that I started reading when I was almost 6 years old and she told me that it's quite funny since I am reading straight but don't know when to pause. I don't care about the period and commas and it makes her smile.

The only thing I remember about when I started to read is that the mean man who drove the Bookmobile in my neighborhood wouldn't let me check out a book because I wasn't in first grade yet. So I guess that means that I was doing some reading at that point or maybe I only thought I could read. But I clearly remember that man and am still angry at him since I was told that I could get a book and waited all day for his fat butt to show up.

When I was growing up my country was still poor, and pre-schools were almost unheard of. That did notstop me from devouring comic books bought by my father, as he weas an avid reader. I guess this helped me n reading skills when I started schooling at the age of 7. At the age of 9 I finished reading several adult novels, and the entire set of 1001 Nights.

I was three when I started reading on my own. My mom had started reading to us the day we were born. Every night my mom would set aside time for family story time. Each of us would pick out a book. My mom kept a calendar and a list of books we have read and we would bring the list to the library. When I have children I plan on doing the same thing.
