I found this little scared, sweet and petrified Dog
My Life had fallen apart, realizing my Marriage was over as my Ex would never change, being diagnosed with my Illness, loosing our beloved Max, being bullied out of my Job because of my Illness , having 2 bad Break Downs, trying to come to terms with everything and being told I will not be able to work any more, I withdrew from People, I would not go out, the only People I loved being surrounded by was my 2 Children
On 18/06/2005 my Daughter told me that her Brother and her where getting me a new Dog, so I would please go to the Kennels with her to look at the Puppies and pick one, I said no I was not going I id not want to go out of the House, I had not been out for weeks I just did not want to go
My Son and Daughter and their Friends tried everything to get me to go shopping and that but I would not, I felt betrayed and useless
As I said I did not want to go, my Son picked me up carried me to my Car and said Mum you are going, I was arguing with him but he would not take no for answer, I then told him that I am not going in my PJ's
He had not realized that I was not dressed, so I got dressed and against my will I went with my Daughter
I looked at the Puppies and they where sweet but somehow none of them seemed right
I then went into another part of the Kennel and that is where I found him, sweet little Gissi scared and sad
Well after 20 minutes of gently talking to him ( one of the Kennel Workers telling me that he will not anyone near him and that in 2 weeks they will be forced to have him put to sleep) he came to me and put his little Head in my Hand, that was it from the minute I saw him I wanted him and had already named him
So today is Gissi's Birthday, as there is no history on the little Man his Birthday is the Day he entered my Life
Have you ever experienced this kind of a bond with your Pet ?

hi gabs so thats how you and my little man in the doggy suit met, it was just meant to be I think he knew a special lady was going to find him, and he knew from the moment he met you. I had that same bond with my dog Pat, named after my first name.He was bought for my sister but somehow though he was fine with the family , he really bonded with me, When I went to a different town to work, He was impatient for the weekends as I came home to my family then and my dog. Where I was living in a boarding house with the other nurses and nurses aides we could not have a pet. When my bus was due at the quarter mile road to our farm my dog Pat knew too and insisted my mom let him out so he met me. We were so close and they brought him for me when we all moved to Tempe Ariz. I had to have a hysterectomy and with two kids to care for while I was gone and my hubby having to work, my mom said she wou ld take Pat home with ther while I was in the hospital. well came the time when I was w ell and i came home, and my hubby was looking sad. I wanted to get my dog and he had to tell me, my mom decided to have Pat put down as he was too old.Really he was just fine, healthy and able to run and play, but she wanted a little Pekingese instead. When I told her with anger why did you have my dog killed, I was going to take him home and you would not be bothered anymore, she just said, He was never your dog, I bought him and I had a right to have him put down. She never understood that Pat bonded with me, that he loved me and i loved him,. and now that I was well we would have had my dog with our two babies. It took so long for me to forgive her for putting my dog to sleep when there was no need.. any way give Gissi an extra hug and a Happy Birthday to him from
Auntie Hatley hugs to you both

hi margerydaw thanks hugs back to you and dexter. that really hurt that my own mom would do that and I had to really work at getting back again with her as I had always been so close to my mom, but i think living on the farm made her a bit callous about dogs which also was sad.

How do you think I got my Galeena? BROWN eyes staring at me thru a cage and with both front legs broken at the Humane Society.
I actually walked away and telling myself, NO! but before I knew it, I turned to the lady and said I'll take HER...............
She was a terror to drive home with LOL but we did make it and she's now been with me for over 7 years.
Just a few weeks ago a black lab stayed around my fence and I thought surely she had to belong to somebody but after two days I let her in and told several about the dog and nobody knew a thing...........I took her to the vet, got her vaccinated, spayed and now we are in love just me and my Galeena are :)
So, yes, Gabs, ANGELS come to us in strange ways and sometimes in doggie suits :)
hugs, quita

QUITA: Ah, yes, the Cat vs Car Syndrome. I had one little "paisley" lady by the name of Briar Rose pee on my shoulder on a trip (home from the vet, as I recall). ("Paisley" refers to her calico brindle cat patchiness, the dark brown with bits of black & cream mix)
She was also a remarkable cat. I miss her, as I miss ALL my furbabies...

Oh goodness Gabs I have just read this discussion. I knew none of these things before talking to you on the phone. I would have had a completely different conversation with you about Gissi if I had only checked my emails from myLot earlier. You must have thought I was going daft.
Give Gissi birthday love from my three fur babies. You should have told me it was his birthday!

My second cat, well, not the second cat in the house, but the second one I picked out to be my personal cat, The Doctor was kind of like that.
He had been found under a truck in a parking lot at the corner of one of the busiest streets in Austin and another busy one.
When the priest in my church called me, knowing that I had earlier that month lost my beloved Sab, he told me that this guy had offered him to him because he knew he had Siamese. Fa. Williams knew that Sab was half Siamese and thought maybe I'd like a replacement.
I went by after work and there was this huge kitten. "My vet says he's only 8 weeks old," the guy told me.
I replied he looked more like 10 or 12. Then he looked at me with his uncrossed blue eyes and I picked him up. He then melted my heart by pressing his head against my cheek.
I think he only ever did that 4 times in his entire life, but he picked the right time then.
I named him The Doctor (after Doctor Who) for his blue eyes and "stripped pants".
Oh, he wasn't pure Siamese by any stretch, but he was a handsome devil.

That's sad. I would've gone to those people and told them the jerk could t give the dog awY because he wasn't his dog and gotten him back.
Of course, the jerk would've been out the door the first time he raised a hand - in the back of a police car!
Men!
Can't live with them can't use them for bait. Pity.

Tell Gissi Happy Birthday!!!That is so cool. i can't remember anything like that specifically right now but I have had a few really special pets. One that stayed hid out forever and then finally became my favorite lap cat!

Sometimes you tended to bonded to things from which you feel happy and value, you automatically seen to in love it. When the world was not with you, it was your pet which gave the reason to smile. This has generated a unbreakable between you and your pet. I haven't experience that kind of a bonding with the pet, but listening to story, I would love to have that kind of a bond.

Oh Gabs, Gissi is your hero. You both saved each others lives, it was ment to be. He is your sweet little life line, you are his sweet life line too. I know we all get attached to our fur babies but now I understand so much more why you are even more attached to him and he to you. You and him are angels to each other. I have had special connections with some of my pets before. Gabs I hope you and Gissi have many many more happy years together. Take care.

Aw gabs, that breaks my heart. I'm so glad Gissi was saved by you. It makes me want to go adopt every dog close to the date where it will be put to sleep. I hate knowing they have an experation date at animal shelters. I just wish I could afford to have more.

Hi Ambie
I know what you mean
I still believe that our Dog Max led me to him I really do, I am not normally a Person to wander about lol and the way I felt that Day I am surprised I even bothered to go looking what was in the closed Kennel but I did and I am so happy I did as a wonderful and loving Dog would have lost his life if I hadn't
Hugs to you

It's a good thing your son picked you up and forced you to go to the shelter to find your new heart.
You rescued each other. Happy birthday/anniversary.

Hi gabs, Wish gissi a happy birthday for me and I feel certain that the day you found him was the happiest day of his life. I had a similar experience with the last two cats that I adopted. It seemed they had been waiting for me to come for them. Animals like people come into our lives for a reason. Blessings.

happy birthday sweet Gissi, and congratulations on 5 happy years with your mum. 18th June 05 was the first day of the happiest stage of your future life together. I have owned many pets, or they have owned me i have loved them all very very much, but even though they have all been special, two cats, my felix, my blue burmese and my darling tux who i had to have put to sleep in March this year, were extra special and i felt a real connection with them. Also 2 dogs , my alsation cross, Freddy and my collie cross, Benjy.sadly all 4 have gone over the rainbow bridge but I still love them to bits. I could really bore you daft about my pets, but let it just be on record, that my pets are my life and in some cases, not all, as i have a lovely son and husband and some really good friends(this includes a certain birthday dog and his owner ) i prefer my lovely pets to people !!

Hi Gabs~ Everytime I read the story about Gissi I cry. I know that you
have made up for all the horror, but still. You know how much I love
him and so do his cousins, Star and Luna. I loved my Cat Cougar and
thought he was so special and so did everyone that me him, including
my two Vets. He was a big Morris looking cat and sweet, but don't make
him angry because you know redheads have tempers!lol But, my Star is
even more sweet and more loving then any cat I've ever had. He is like
a baby human. His bond with me is incredible. He thinks he is my
baby! He has to be touching me all the time. My friend laught when
they see him laying in my arms like an infant or sitting in my lap
with his arm around me! There's a connection so deep that I've never
had with any of my other animals, not even my beloved Cougar. So
my darling Gissi may you have many more happy and healty birthdays!
Know that you are very much loved by many! Love, Aunty Les, Star & Luna

Oh Gabs, I got a little teary! That is so lovely how he bonded with you especially when he would not let anyone else near him. I know my dog’s birthday because the lady who sold her to us had a record of it but we celebrate our cats’ birthdays on the day we adopted them. I have experienced that kind of bond with a pet. Animals are so very special that way, they can enter our lives at the right time and change it forever. They bring us so much unconditional love and joy. I know I will always have pets in my life as long as I live! Happy birthday little Gissi and many, many happy returns, special little man!

Hi Paula
Yes it was amazing I have to be honest but again that is what it needs trust
If People just say come here come on and then give up because the Dog has not bounced up well there is no Interest then
The first a Dog needs to learn is trust and that the Person is sincere the only way a Dog will feel that is if he sees you are willing to take time with him/her let them come in their own time that is the first step and the first Bond
Big Hugs to you

It's great that you have both bonded so well. 5 Years is a long time to be together, and I know that Gissi can be a bit of a handfull (or pawfull) sometimes, but he is cute as well. He also give you a reason to get up in the morning (and to go out as well).

Aw Gabs, that's such a great story. I believe that sometimes Angels whisper into people's heads and make them do what they do. I think that happened to your son and daughter. They were so persistent in this and wanting you to have a friend, pal, someone to keep you on your toes, and it was exactly what you needed and so did Gissi. Do you get what I'm talking about?
Happy Birthday Gissi, may you have many, many more! I'm sure if Kash was here she'd wish you a Happy Birthday too, so I'll do it for her.
I had a very tight bond with both of my kitties being I rescued them, and they rescued me. I think Kash came to visit me the other day to let me know she was alright and still watching me.

Hi Kash
My Children where wonderful all the way through and still are to this Day
And yes Kash will come to see you not just to let you know that he is ok but also to see that you are and I believe he is trying to tell you something to just like my Max did who I believe led me to Gissi, there is a Kitty somewhere that needs you and Kash is letting you know this do not ignore him
Big Hugs to you Sweetie and I am sure Kash wished Gissi a Happy Birthday in his own way

I have met your Gissi here before and know of the lovely things you have been saying about your pet.
After having lost my older dogs who were 15 years and over I decided not to have any more pets but one fine day as I was entering the gate a tiny little puppy black as coal walked in with me wagging its tail ceaselessly. We instantly fell love with this little creature and today she is fully grown and though a stray is classy!

Hi Allknowing
That is such a sweet STORY
I have always had Dogs and I have loved them all dearly and always will in my Heart it hurts when they go yes but then eventually I know there is another one that needs loving and caring for
Gissi is very special to me and I really hope that I will have him many more years
I am glad that you kept the Puppy
