Dont You think that Podolsiki was the main culprit for Gemany's loss in yesterdays match. He got 3/4 Chances to score a Goal. Most Importantly the team gave him a golden chance to score a Penalty and which he couldnt turn into a goal. What the hell was he doing. Thank God, that He is not playing In the Era Of The Great Hittler, Otherwise, he would have been Shot dead by Now.As We all Know ,that How Much Strict and Disciplined the Germans were at that time. Should He be given another chance to play in next group match Game? Germans Should Play their first match tactics in their next game,i.e, Playing the ball at both wings(Right&Left)at regular intervals and Should alsoadopt the two/three touch game policy.Speed up the game like they played in their first group match game. I want To see you in super 16 guys, dont Disapoint me.

With Miroslav Klose sent off, I think Podolski will still get the chance to play, there were only Podolski and Gomez left in front, while Cacau and Kiessling are too inexperienced. Or maybe Gomez will play as a lone striker, that means Loeb should add an extra midfielder or winger. The point is, the win against Ghana is a must now.

Gomez is the biggest duff, I've ever seen in Germany team, but Podolski made awful misses. Germany deserved to lose this game. By the way, how many germans has Germany?

I have to agree with kingsize that Gomez is not good enough at this level. I do not know why he was being touted as the next breakout star at Bayern Munich. He is just a tall strong bumbling and bungling forward!! Cheers! Ram

If I were German coach, I would put Toni Kroos as a striker instead, as I often do in game Football Manager... The wonderkid often scores for my team, hahaha.. Too bad that this is a real game, not a statistically simulated strategy game...

It is easy to point the finger at Podolski for the defeat. To me, the person to bring the downfall for the germans is none other than the referee. I think he had a poor game and is too eager to flash out the cards. I mean, look at the 2nd yellow that he gave Klose. That is hardly a yellow card offence. With a man down, the german will find it hard to breakdown the serbia defence, which is very sound. But should the serbian qualify for the next round, they will have to be careful. Their defence had been conceding unneccessary penalties. They are just lucky that the germans did not punish them for it.

Well My friend, First of all let me tell You that I myself was a profesional football player at my school, college, and University Time. I agree that Germans had suffered some greviences at the hands of the refree, but what about the chance they had to score, Podolski Missed four oppurtunties of Scoring goals. In penalty shout out there is 99.9% are the chances of a goal and goalkeeper had only .1% percent chance to save the goal.Look at Podolski, where is he shouting the Penalty, in the hands of the goal keeper, what was the rush to him.Even a school playing football player knows in which angle he has to shout the penalty. Podolski is not playing a School game.He is playing at the world top most platform. If he do such childish acts, I am afraid he should be playing with the kids at school than to play at this level. You Can't blame others for your own mistakes. Refree did not penalised Germans Only.He also equaly punished Serbians for their dreadful deeds. The penalty was the fruit of Refree's correct descion which Podolski failed to capitalised and which resulted in the defeat of Germans. Refree had shown cards two both sides for their misdeeds. So he is not responsible for the defeats of the germans

I think Podolski has had a poor season this year with his club. But he still looked really sharp in both the matches, though his finishing in the second match was poor. I think he plays very well when linking with Klose, but up alone he falls slightly flat. I do not think Gomez or other strikers are good enough to replace Podolski though for the next match, so he will definitely start. Cheers! Ram

jagjit273, In the first place, soccer is a team sport and such I would not say that Podolski is the main culprit for the German defeat. Let's be fair that the Germans really had a bad game since the kickoff and the whole team is being affected by the erratic card happy pedantic Spanish referee who would be flashing every single card he can find. For the start, the German's confidence was already shaken since their having to loose their captain Michael Ballack through a freak injury picked up during the final phase of training for this tournament. When they came into this match, you can see that there were already some players being affected by the referee's decisions and card happy act. First on the list is Mueller who was playing like a school kid having the first touch of the soccer ball - none of his crosses hit the mark or found the mark. Coach Low should be the other culprit, who really should have played the same line up that played Australia right to the book against Serbia- Mueller was really feeling out of sort at his position. Then, when Klose got the red card, the whole German confidence got sent off to the changing room as well. None of them - including the captain Phillip Lahm - bothered to shout instructions. Podolski, would definitely be a bunch of nerve as the rest of the teams scoring is solely left on his shoulders. So, how could he not have the stress and pressure? But, I just could not understand how he was allowed to take the spot kick when the next best person would be Bastian Schweinsteiger. So, I would blame the referee and the whole German team including the coach for the lost. They could have at least picked up a point, and alas they only have themselves to blame.

Hi jagjit you are right in pointing out that Podolski missed several chances and even a penalty and the Germans payed for it.However you should not blame Podolksi alone. The entire team failed to deliver and the turning point of the game was the red card to Klose. While criticising the Germans we are forgetting one thing that even with ten men the Germans managed to get a penalty against the Serbs and it would have been great had Podolksi managed to score. As far as fielding Podolksi in the next game is concerned i think Loew will most definitely field Podolksi and maybe with a few goals he will be able to redeem himself as quite often we have seen in football that a villain on a particular day can turn out to be a hero on another day and vice versa.
