For some reason, my cellphone received disturbing and threatening messages from some gangster to a gangmate. I called the cell company and reported my dilemma. They took my number, apologized, and said that something will be done about it. So yes, tracing is possible in the Philippines.

I believe it is possible to track cellphone calls in the Philippines. If I recall correctly there was already an incident when a couple of agents (forgot which department) warned a certain known person not to make any outside calls because his cellphone is already "wired" to theirs so whatever he says on the phone or whoever he calls will be tracked. Also, the technology is very easy to copy and recreate, it's just illegal to do as it will violate all sorts of rights.

Yeah it is GRPS if the cellphone has a GRPS capability then it is possible but the cellphones to be traced must be subscribe to the service, it think its P20-P25 for one trace, i have used it in Globe.

I do not hear anything yet from the news that a tracking device is permitted here in the Philippines. However,i guess that the persons entrusted in the networking section of some networks could have a tracking device, but is confidential.

Yes zenki it is very much possible with the current technology in the market today. But this will require large sum of money, technical expertise and time to set things up. Local enforcer know about it and is utilizing some of it to tap or trace calls for national security. Ever heard of the hello garci? Anyway let's hope that our government will be able to create laws that have good safety net to prevent abuse of the technology.

I think we are capable or tracing calls. But I don't know if it is legal. Why would you want to track some calls? If someone is giving you creepy calls or someone is stalking you then report it immediately to the police.
