I enjoyed Home Alone. I thought that it was funny and entertaining. I didn't like the uncle I thought that he was a jerk but I guess that was the point. I think that Home Alone 2 although it was good was too much. What are the odds of losing your child twice. It made me appreciate the first movie a lot less. A sequel should not have been done. It wasn't necessary. What do you think?

Sadley money always talks. Home Alone was an excellent film that was played out by great actors and film goers around the world loved it, and still do.
So if you were a movie director making money from 'Home Alone' then you would obviously want to extend the storyline and increase your own revenue by making a second film.
Many films show never have sequels made after them as it really spoils the original, in my humble opinion.
Films like, Oceans Eleven, Rocky, Blues Brother, all the sequels failed to meet the high standards of the original.

I have to agree with you. There are a lot of movies that should never have sequels but we don't know until we see them and filmmakers know this.

There is only so far you can spin out a storyline, and I think people are slowiy understanding this.
Fresh new ideas and stories are what is needed in Hollywood, but your right the film-makers know that they can still cash in on sequels.
The next big thing is 3D movies, but again most of them are poor remakes of quality old films.

I loved Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Kevin McAllister was quite an inventive child. He would make a parent proud. I wasn't that crazy about home Alone 3. Maybe it's just the change of characters.

I liked the first two Home Alone movies a lot. Home Alone 3 and 4 I've never seen and I don't intend on ever seeing them. Quite honestly they looked really dumb from what I could tell from the trailers.
I once read they had wanted to film Home Alone 3 right after Home Alone 2 but Macaulay Culkin was ready to move on from the franchise and character and refused to do them.

Home Alone 2 I think worked because of the fact that they did take it a different route. It wasn't like they forgot him again necessarily. It was that he got on the wrong plane. Was it necessary to create a sequel? Not really, but I think it still worked. I do not, however, think the third and fourth sequels were necessary AT ALL for a number of reasons.
