I have very few allergies and never much problems with the seasons. We went out last night spent a few minutes with my husbands brother and he sprayed some kind of spray in his truck and the next thing I know my eyes are itching and won't stop. And now I look like I have been punched in the eyes. They have been swollen all day and itchy. I have never had a problem with being allergic to many things I thank God for that but my eyes are swollen and real itchy. Does anyone know what to do for this? Have you ever had this problem before? Do you know how long this will last?

Did you try some benadryl and taking some warm compresses to your eyes. I really hope you are feeling better.

I have been using benadryl on my eyes and they are a lot better. I used a cool compress cause it has been really hot. So I put ice in a rag and it helped a lot. Thanks my friend for your concern.

I can relate to that but mine started with food. I know that I'm allergic to sea foods and it just came to my attention that that also includes squids. I ate them without knowing I'm allergic to them. A few minutes later, my body started to itch and it really itched a lot. I developed hives, runny nose, and my eyes and lips swelled. I also felt numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. I also experienced some short of breath. Thanks God we have some Benadryl (an anti-allergy medication) at home and I used a pill before going to bed since that medicine will make you sleepy. It took about 3 days for the symptoms to calm down and I promised myself that I won't eat another squid or any seafood no matter how delicious they look. :)

Hi Ajarvaise. Thanks I am going to call mom and see if she has some benadryl I am all out but maybe she will have some. I forgot about that. I have discovered I have a few rashes all over my body so I know it is an allergic reaction to the spray. This is odd I used to use that spray all the time but I can't even get close to it now. Thanks again!

that happened to me once because i had a really bad cold. i just put warm water on them and then they were ok, but yours sounds like an allergy. did you take anything? you should have taken something right away. you may have to go to emergency.

Hi Cher. No I didn't take anything I don't take medicines never have. I put a cream on them after I washed my face and they seem to be a lot better now. I don't trust doctors never have never will. I have always used home remedies cause I know they work. I don't even take aspirins not unless I have had a headache all day and nothing else worked to stop it. I know that headaches start from pain in as low as your foot and can start from a pain in your back. I found this out from being a massage therapist. My mother was full blooded Indian and my dad was over half Indian. So my mother didn't believe in doctors either and she gave us cures for all kinds of things when I was growing up. The only problem with it is I can't remember them all. Thanks for your advice my friend!

hi free__man You have an allergy to whatever was in that spray. You must see your doctor and tell him about the spray, also take the can with you or at least write down the names of the chemicals in it. the doctor will give you some sort of antihistamine to help get your eyes unswollen also he may have the nurse give you an Iv of benadryl as they did me when I got cat scratch fever from my roommates damned cat.The doctor will know what to do for you so go see him or her, thats the best way to do. You could take benadryl but I would really see my own doctor if it were me.with treatment the swelling in your eyes should go down quickly.

Hi Hatley. So sorry it took me so long to respond to you but I haven't been getting many emails from my lot. Thanks my eyes are back to normal and it was an allergy. I don't go to doctors any more I don't trust many of them any more it seems like every time I went to the doctor I would get sick every time. So I use home remedies like my mother did for all of us as I was growing up. Thanks!

Hi, free_man. I am sorry about your eyes. I have never had a problem like this before. Something in the spray probably had an chemical that you could have been allergic to. And he could have used a good bit of this spray to cause your eyes to become swollen and irritated. I think that it is best that you consult with a doctor so that you can find out exactly what is wrong. This will also allow you to see what you are allergic to and what you are not allergic to. I hope that you will feel better very soon. Take care.

Hi Cream. Can't see a doctor don't have insurance. Haven't been to a doctor in several years. Any way they would have to do scratch test and that cost way too much for me to even think about. My mother in law knows several natural cures I will ask her what to do about it. I trust those natural cures better then doctors any way. I have never been sick in my life and only am allergic to a few things. But thanks you brought to mind one of the things I am allergic to and it is febreeze spray and that is what he used. I knew it would come to me as soon as I could eliminate what was different that we did yesterday. Thanks for making my brain work.

Yikes! I feel your pain though. I have allergies pretty bad. One of the things I'm allergic too is cats. I will never forget that one time I was spending the night at a friend's house when I was younger and they had a cat. Well my eyes swelled and mattered shut in the night! I woke up and couldn't open my eyes - I was terrified! Especially since I wasn't in my own house/bed. So I was trying to walk around their house with my eyes shut, finding my way to my friend's mom. It was pretty scary for me as a child. I hope your eyes are feeling much better soon!

Hi Jenn. Well the swelling goes down a bit during the day but when I first wake up they are swollen. I had the same thing happen once when I was a child too. It was scary! I hope this is over soon. It has been years and I can't remember how long it took for my eyes to go down then. Thanks I hope this never happens to you again or anyone else as far as that goes. Oh well I will keep praying that God will heal my eyes and keeping a cool rag on them when I sleep. Thanks again for sharing your experience!
