what is offside in footbal???? how to find that????........

This has got to be one of the hardest rules in football to explain. Let me have a go. A team is not allowed to have one of their forwards left alone in the oppositions half. There must be at least 2 opposition players between them and their goal. This does not make any sense at all, sorry my attempt at explaining the rule has failed i hope someone else makes a better attempt at it than me :)
