In my opinion, there are several ways to attract MyLotters to click and response your discussions:
1. Starting discussion at right place.
It means you should able to determine where your discussion will be placed. Since there is a lot interest category choices, you should choose the most relevant interest to your discussion.
2. Interesting topic.
You should be careful when choosing words and sentence for your topic because first response is existed after readers read the topic. In my opinion, good topic should be able to attract readers to see more to the content. In my opinion, attractive topic should be have either controversial or crucial or mysterious characteristic.
E.g: "opportunities behind crisis?!?!" or "The positive aspects of crisis!!!"
3. Content & Languages.
First, make sure your content is valid and match to the interest and topic. Next,
You need to stick to KISS Principle (Keep It Short & Simple). Readers seem don't like to read long discussion. Moreover, if the writer used many specific terms or jargon, readers will be difficult to understand your discussion. Thus, readers tend to do nothing. So, just use simple words and sentence. Keep it short but make sure it's clear to your readers.
Another trick: It is better to put image or picture because it will help your readers to understand your discussion. Besides that, lot of people in this world are right brain thinker. Right brain thinker prefer to see picture more than reading texts or words.
4.The tags of our discussion
This very important aspect because your tags will determine how readers will find your discussion just like when internet users try to find websites using search engines. In my opinion, good tags should be relevant to your topic and general. General means the keywords often used by readers when they search discussion. So, your discussion will be filtered and displayed to the readers.
5.Responsive to your readers comments
It is very important to appreciate your readers comment. If they comments your discussion, reply them and say thank you if necessary. If readers critic your discussion, do not reply with rude words. Instead, you should consider as suggestion that motivate you to make better discussion. If you still not agree, give logic arguments that prove your discussion is correct. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DISCUSSION WITHOUT ANY RESPONSES FROM YOU. It same as you ignore your readers.
Extra Tips: Make a friend with other MyLotters as many as possible. Build good friendship with them. They surely will comment in your discussion. Besides that, any updates of information such as starting new discussion, will be inform to all MyLotters in your friend list.
That's all i can share, please correct me if i am wrong. I am ready for critics.
However, Give 2-thumps-up when you like my discussion :D

hi I am not here to criticize anyone and I liked you point , but do not make the error of one line discussions as they hardldy ever get paid.
Also take the time to write at least four or five sentences asking us
something or telling us something then ask for our take on your
situation. Read it over carefully for errors and for omitted words
that sometimes change your meaning completely too. Comment back but do not say thanks, its against my lot rules., the thing is its a copout as you do not want to stretch your mental powers to make a real comment so you just say thanks. a lot of us think when you never use any effort and just give a thanks that you did not bother to even read the response.YUou will not get paid for saying thanks for your response. but for a good comment you will earn well.

Thank you for your advice Hatley, i am really appreciating your comment.
yes, i do agree with you. It also written on the discussion guidelines :D
However, what i mean here is not just say "thank you", but you need to post it together with comment. Besides that, saying "thank you" will give positive effect to your relation with your readers. They feel being appreciated, then they will appreciate you back :D.

hi letranKnight I was so glad when you came back as Ihad since I first started here enjoyed your discussions as they were different and yet to'the point and easy to understand. YOu are right, us oldies can get carried away at at times and end up sounding critical. I have been trying to make more discussions about other things than mylot itself, just to be a lot more interesting.

in my end, it's better to respond to a lot of discussions. i feel bad when ever i make a discussion about mylot this and that, some oldies tend to make their topics condemning or criticizing others discussions, i have seen it here although it's not centered on me i see and feel they're frustration sometimes. well, that's what happens when there too connected with mylot.

There are far too many members who start a 'discussion' but never respond back to other member's reponses; this is then not a discussion at all, to have a discussion we need to talk back to each other.
I always feel that some people don't want to put what they think as it ids againdt the other persons point of view - but again this makes good discussion.
Good discussion from you BTW !!

yes, i do agree with you. It just like article for readers. Not discussion.
Yes, but posting different or opposite point of view will make you discussion looks interesting because there are some readers are pro, some are contra. So, it will become long talk. And i think discussion is not necessary if everyone do agree with writer idea.
Anyway, thank you for response to my discussion.

You have given some fantastic details here but you could definitely do with making this a little bit shorter to attract more people to actually read through it first (your own advice!).
Welcome to mylot.com and it really does seem like you have grasped how the website works very fast. Please feel free to add me as a friend and if you need anymore information on anything then just send me a message as I am around quite a lot lately.

yes, i do agree with you, the KISS principle i discussed.
However, i have tried to make it as short as possible.
If i make it shorter, i am sure the readers would not understand what my discussion is all about. You should remember that, when you compress the content, make sure it doesn't affect the quality and clarity of your discussion. It will be a waste if your readers don't understand the content because the information provide is too short :D
By the way, Thank you for your comment. I think i need to learn more from you :D

These are very good tips, and I am sure they will be very useful for newbies around here. I think the most important thing is to be nice to people in general, if you are a friendly and nice person, people will want to interact with you more than once, so also make it a habit to be a nice and polite member of MyLot (in different ways, you already mentioned some of them 5h1n164m1!) and you will make new friends and get more responses!

Wow....that was an excellent post. Seriously that was simply amazing. Thanks for all the advice, and I'll be sure to follow in the future. I'm more of the responding kind of person rather than the starting kind of person. I feel less capable of starting conversations, but I suppose that shall change in the future....Hopefully.
Once again, thank you very much. :D

A kudo for you. I didn't feel comfortable starting discussions for some time. I watched and responded and observed the types of discussions that were started.
I reached a point where I felt comfortable starting a discussion. Although I still primarily respond, I have started a few discussions. Some have been very successful, some not as successful. You will learn the ideas that pique people's attention by experience.
Prosperous mylotting

Hello there,
You can say that to me next time, when you start commenting on your other discussions responses. i will respond to comments when and where i feel i need to do so, no one has to force me to comment or respond unless i wanted to and have the proper time to since i also need to respond to a lot of topics before commenting on my own topics responses.
for a newbie, you're doing you're home work for a change. just remember to read the mylot discussion guidelines which i too violate rules when i became too busy with mylotting.
besides, i don't want arguments, I've had enough in the Political discussion. just a warning when an oldie sees you're violation, they will report it with out hesitation, as they have done it with me.my former old, suspended and deleted account that it.

I am sorry to hear that Letran.
Looks like your have different point of view. But i am really appreciating it.
In my opinion, responding to readers comments in my own discussion is more important than responding other discussions. Let me explain the logic using analogy. Let say you are store owner, will you leave you own store while lot of people come to see or buy your products? will you ignore them and choose to go to other store to see their products? If it's me, then i would never ignore the people who come to my store because they can turn to be my royal customer later. I think, that analogy is applicable here. If you post good discussion and do response your readers well, they will feel appreciated and interested not only to your discussion, but also to you as reputable writer. They will eager to see and comment your new discussions.
This is my own opinion and it's okay if you have different point of view :D
Anyway, try to see my other discussions, maybe you will find something interesting and it would be nice if you post good comment like this :D

This is pretty much true. Especially the part of keeping it as simple as possible. It is all about appealing to the most people possible. If you are like me, then you are just running through the posts and posting your responses, without all that much thought. Just enough thought to give some value to the post but people do not really like in general to go for the complex responses.
I think also posting at a certain time of day helps a little bit. Most likely between the times of 10 AM and Noon in the United States. I believe that most people are on their lunch breaks then and they post then. Therefore, you will get a decent chunk of responses during that amount of time. Well, at least, I have in my experiences. Your experiences may vary and so will your results.

i would suggest .. take a printout, and read that before you start mylot... daily.
it is just like a prayer before you started school.. and, it will be really of very great help.. from the constant reminders that you get from your sub-conscious.
before you get carried away by other topics, and get confused... that is!
not everyone will share all the secrets. And, I am very glad and thankful! ...
