I have a two year old, and i have a border collie who is like almost eight. Now jack my border collie is mild tempered and pretty much takes whatever comes his way (a big wuss if you ask me lol) but my two year old, talks, and plays but eventually it ends up with what looks like torment and torture and complete anger drips from my two year old. But then the look goes away..as if nothing happened. Now i don't know if it is because Jack's a dog, or the child is two years old, but i don't want the lil guy to grow up using animals as kickballs or anything like that. Do you have pets, and children? how well do they get along, and how do you get your children to understand that they need to be "Soft"
THanks
J

Oh I don't believe that spent ages typing out response even uploaded pic pressed submit and it disappeared off into cyberspace!
Back to discussion - The only advice I can give is to train your son repetitively the same as you did Jack when he was a pup, keep telling him NO, GENTLE over and over until he gets it. This is what I done with my own children and it worked. I also taught them not to touch strange dogs without asking owners permission especially on hot days as dogs like humans can only take so much and then they have enough.
I love border collies and have uploaded a pic of my Ziggy as a pup pretending to be a rabbit lol Huggles Ellie :D

Thanks ellie, my wife does a wonderful job when it comes to training my oldest about my dog, now im not as easy going as she is but i am trying to learn. She is also doing a wonderful job speaking to him in a grownup type of tone and speach so he is understanding, but he's kinda at the age where you tell him to be soft with jack and he looks at you mischieviously...waits for a sec, then tests the water to see how much he can get away with. It's quite entertaining but he knows better.
Jack didn't do so well, i think he was a little sick and i hope he feels better. thank you for the picture
