Hi Friends, I am writing this discussion from the hotel guest facilities computer because my Laptop is affected from some serious virus which is killing all the processes of the application. I start google web page and it does not display anything but virus information, I have Symentac antivirus installed but seems that its useless. I cannot even see the task manager to see the running processes. Tried to get help on this but because it is sunday and all the professional help would be available on monday. I will not be able to access anything till monday evening. Thank You friends.

Try to do a system restore to an earlier date. It won't get rid you of viruses but there's a big chance that system things like task manager will be running properly. Try to get everything you need while working in safe mode and then the best thing would be probably to reformat disk.

try to get to your computer in safe mode with networking to see if you can update your anti virus... if you can then run the antivirus in safe mode. to get there as soon as you turn the computer on pres the F8 severaltimes until it shows you a black screen to select which mode you want to go in... usually no external process is on during safe mode what allows you to run the anti virus and help yourself :-) in the worst case this mode at least allows you to take your info off the infected computer wish you luck

well if you have software problem than you must install a new window and format the hard disk.

Formatting would have been a last option which I would not prefer to do, fortunately everything is safe. Thank you for suggestion.

I use Malwarebytes and that was the only virus spyware/malware control that worked for me when I had a bad virus, and Norton Internet Security never found it. If you can, see if you can download it, the application is free. You can also pay for it if you like it enough. I have the free version which you have to do manually everyday since it's free because I'm not working at the moment and can't afford none. This is their website....www.malwarebytes.com....if you're interested. It can be used alongside any virus control like Symantec and it won't hurt anything. See if this works for you as it did for me. Good Luck!

Oh dear, I know what it is to lose a lot of data, especially with a deadline just at the corner. We use Kaspersky, and run checks every Friday. System moves at the pace of bullock cart on that date, but so far, it has managed to save us from problems. I cant say what will happen in future. Hopefully, it would be good enough in future as well. :) Hope you are able to recover all that data. Please share what you did to recover from here.

Thank god and the IT guy who brought it back in farm, fortunately no data loss. We did all experiments after taking data backup. Everything is safe and sound but could not work full day because of this issue. Just got it in farm 30 minutes back. Thank You Vandana for caring and sharing.
